As a snowboarder, I would NEVER recommend taking your board here for tuning.
Everything appeared great, the person at the front counter checked out mine and my husbands boards and immediately recommended a full tune which was supposed to include ptex for my board, then base grind, sharpen and wax for both boards. That sounded great and was exactly what we were looking for.
When we picked them up the next day, the entire job done was questionable. My board had no new ptex, and they actually knocked some of the old stuff out even more with the base grind. The edges were horribly dull and they didn’t even care to take a gummy stone to the ends to remove the rust that was still on both boards. Initially I thought they did an okay job on the base until we took it for a single lap and I realized they didn’t scrape ANY wax so after the initial run the thick layer left on came off and showed how poorly the base grind was completed.
The icing on the cake was a week later when we had a powder day, my husband and I wanted to set back our bindings — we both ride twin Jones boards that have settings for freestyle and a set back freeride. Whoever put our bindings back on at Steamboat Sports HAD TO of used a power drill on the highest setting (absurdity). We tried for days before we finally took a trip to the hardware store to buy an even more powerful power drill than the one we ALREADY owned, plus thicker drill bits. We were finally able to remove them, but I’m honestly concerned the threads inside the board may have been damaged. Time, and a few more rides will tell if they start to chronically come loose I guess..
Lesson learned — guess it’s finally time we learn how to tune ourselves.

Read moreThe staff and customer service from the team at Steamboat Sports is impeccable. On our first day our lift tickets would not work at a lift. What could be a frustrating moment was quickly resolved when a kind, young lady at the gondola walked us back to the ticket office, bypassed the line, and got it resolved quickly. We then returned to the lift where our skis had been held as well as our place in line.
An unfortunate injury on the afternoon of that day cut my adventures short but then Frank Tyler and his team at the ticket office and Connor Thomas at Torian Sports Plum Plaza went above and beyond the call in customer service and provided me the most kind and unexpected offer.
I have experienced “best in class service” like I rarely ever have. We will be back. The team here has earned a lifetime of loyalty from the Lyda...
Read moreThey gave me a pair of defective boots. I finished a run and was crying and tried to swap them out and some 12-year-old employee with pigtails who told me it was my fault.l (never mind I have been skiing at least 40 years longer than she’s been alive). I finally found a gentleman who helped me swap them out. I spent a lot of money on that ski vacation only to end up with bruises, the size of baseballs on my shin. Just awful experience .don’t...
