My one star given to Awe's is only deserved for reasonable prices of the apples that we purchased. Awes, as far as customer service was far than less accommodating for the 3 very-independent seniors that I brought along, for a )supposed to be nice trip to the Apple Farm). From the minute I pulled up our vehicle, a worker of Awe's came out and told us, "We are not handicapped liscensed," and that half of our group would have to sit outside while only one or two of us went in to the store. I had told her, "there is none of us that are handicapped and we have been here in the past and had no problems." From when we walked in the building she talked to my seniors(ages 70-85) as if they were children and had some sort of disability. While they were shopping in the store, a senior accidently bumped into the wooden boxes with castors on and, and she again begins to tell me, "see this what i considered handicapped." In my opinion, myself, a child, or anyone could have bumped into them and moved them by accident. While paying another comment she made to myself and my group was, "you need to tell your people they can only bring cash here." Our intention of this visit was to give our seniors a great fall experience at the apple farm, and this was far from it, not only were we upset and extremely disappointed, we felt as if we were being discriminated against during our visit. If anybody thinks of taking there family, grandparents, or children, be careful, because you may be judge based...
Read moreThey say “free admission” but will still charge based on your party size. We had 3 kids all age 3 and under. We were only wanting a half peck of apples but were not allowed because we had more than 2 people. Full peck was $35 and we definitely wouldn’t have utilized all those apples. Worth the drive to Elegant Farmer who only charges by the amount of apples you take out.
When we had just gotten there and my toddlers were picking up the pumpkins that were in bins on the ground. I was watching them and parenting and correcting if needed. It wasn’t 2 min before a lady came out and asked me to keep my kids from playing with the pumpkins, she didn’t want them breaking them. Ok, that’s fine, I don’t want them breaking them either. It’s not like they were chucking them around, just seeing if they could life the heavy ones.
It just put me on edge. In my few years of working to teach my kids to behave in public and to respect other’s property….I haven’t once been yelled at by someone else. Especially in a place that I thought would be more geared towards kids.
But if you don’t want kids around your pumpkins and we can’t buy the amount of apples we want,...
Read moreThis is a great little shop! We have been visiting here for years, and by the time Thanksgiving rolls around (they close the day before Thanksgiving until the next August), we are stocking up on baked goods to enjoy all winter long (the delicious apple cider donuts freeze very well!)! :-) The staff always has been friendly (I do NOT get the negative, belly-aching reviews criticizing the staff. ALWAYS when I visit I am greeted with a friendly clerk. [Perhaps those who have been critical should remember that a smile goes a long way. And those whose children are unruly should rein in their offspring. The shop is not a playground.]), and when there is time, it is enjoyable to chat with them. I always have found everyone from the owner to the staff to be quite personable. As far as the prices are concerned, visitors should remember that the orchard and its shop are open for only a very short period of time. The income undoubtedly impacts their entire year. And I don't mind "paying for the memories". Some of my favorite fall memories are taking our girls apple picking when they were young. Precious...
