Dark Horse Institute shifted my entire perspective as an Artist. An entire 180. I consider myself a businesswoman and an Artist. I walked away with an education within Music Business with our Instructor John Lucasey taking lead; Dave Hagen, Jason Hollis, & Jennifer Paige closing us out. It was not only mind blowing but grounding.

This is not the type of program where one can sit and not be moved to action. Whether they are already active within the music business already or new to it.

It’s the type of education that is taught in a way that layers and builds like a crescendo within an orchestra and when it gets to the top of its height, all of it fills the room within the mind and it gels like AHA!!!

The layering of each subject matter within Topic* involves precision and if patient* as the student and open leaving all one thinks they know at the door, will adjust you like a chiropractor.

John Lucasey de mystifies what may be challenging yet approachable and doable if one is willing to apply themselves to the material provided. A lot of reading. Yet so is IT, medicine, law school & R. Estate. No different. The beauty is it’s not only book knowledge, yet each Instructor is seasoned with ACTIVE experience within the Music Business that can’t be garnered in any traditional institution as is known. So this is definitely cutting edge. The Instructors at DHI comprehend fully the shifts & changes within music business & also the times we live in which Technology plays a huge role as we know it in Social Media.

The instructors make us comprehend how Communication also plays a huge role along w/Technology. We knew we would have guests yet we couldn’t imagine how key the level of guests had would have been.

We are truly 6 degrees of separation or less. Most importantly our classmates* are also our network. We had to put the effort in with our minds applying ourselves to the assignments while at the same time life with life.

So it was also a real world situation.

Our class wasn’t filled with individuals who were given this opportunity to learn and we all had our challenges. Our class age ranged from 19-60 a class of 8 Men & Women universal.

We all implemented according to where we were at yet implemented. We bounced off of each other & created opportunities using our gifts & talents in which not all were music related yet interconnected with what the bottom line was & is: Business. We are in The Music Business.

I walked in stuck and pretty ignorant on the business of music.

My view is different now. How? We are speaking to two different audiences: The average consumer & The Industry.

The average consumer simply loves music so their view point is going to be different. Not everything needs to be shared unnecessarily if it’s not what they do.

The information won’t be respected and or used to turn a quick buck which means hurting the Artist which means hurting the business. Which truly, reaches into all buckets of industry across the board beyond music yet music playing an integral part.

In closing, I don’t even know how I was out here being an Artist without a foundation comprehending this trade I am in. I love music.

Even with love comes effort-ing to grow and be the most with that whom we say we love.

I invested and I have grown and there is no way to go but up unless I choose different.

The Administration of DHI from point of entry from Admissions Advisor, mine being Eric Galvan, The President Cathy Baird & The big, dog of Finance Kris, & Lynn are about business yet at the same time hold your hand.

As a class & as an administration we all learned a deeper level of the art of communication. If you choose DHI and ever get in a web? SPEAK up.

Dave Hagen & Jason Hollis are gems. They play their part well and the edge they bring, kept us balanced.

So Thank You as well. Looking forward to the now and the future.

Every institution has its own light yet Dark Horse Institute is one in which I am ecstatic I said yes & they said yes to me for me the ride.

Thank You for...

I loved my Audio Engineering course here at Dark Horse. This experience is great, and i highly recommend for anyone who's interested in audio engineering like me. It covers a ton of information in 20 weeks, and covers everything you need to know to run a session. I've taken away tons of information from it, including how to record, mix, master, and more. If anyone is considering taking the course, i would definitely do it. I learned things from this class i never even thought about, it has been a great experience from beginning to end. It was fun and interactive, and packed with information. I've made lots of friends here, and made lots of memories. I enjoyed every second of it and can't wait to use the information i learned to kick...

This institution has helped me in every way I needed to start my career and honestly, getting out of my own way. The Music Business helped me feel secure in how I want run my own artistry and how I want to do business. Audio Engineering showed me how things work and how session work should be run. I now feel confident in running my own session and sessions for others. My last class, Songwriting, gave me the ability to feel comfortable in writing for myself and with others . The material given also helped me understand what elements and tools that can be used you craft great songs. All of my teachers have acted as a mentor to me in some way or another. I appreciate the experience and opportunities that I have gotten throughout...
