Recently relocated from the North West region I find the reviews to be rather concerning. Having shopped at various Costco's. It's understandable to verify members and guests at the door for this location. I see the lack of consumer education as a missed opportunity for the store to direct concerns about topics like: health, safety, cost/packaging, parking lot congestion, staffing, and others should be provided by store management as well by customers using the paper suggestion box near the doors or calling the Corporate Headquarters. At one time I was experiencing several issues like this myself but found it useful to ask some employees at a Costco in Idaho voice concerns about merchandise or bringing back discontinued items. So they were helpful in explaining how the system worked from the top down with purchasing vendors at Corporate. So letting my fingers do the walking I found the company 1-800 number to speak with customer service to talk about my complaints. Also, asking for information on what I could do help improve things with useful feedback to do the most good. He was polite and helpful listening to all I said then offered to suggest different ways to make my experience better regarding their membership upgrade push at the cash registers. He informed me I could OPT-OUT to be exempted from pushy supervisors and management which felt like I was being harassed so I gave him my contact info and he entered it into their system. As for the other topics I mentioned there was several so he did his best to offer a clear explanation on each listed item. After 1 hour on the phone I thanked him for his time, patience and empathy. Within 2 minutes after I'd ended the conversation the store manager from my local Costco personally called me to go over everything and clarify these misunderstandings to my satisfaction. All in all, I highly suggest any dissatisfied customer use the paper comment box in the store which is kept confidential and in writing and also if no response is given within a few weeks. Please do call the corporate customer service number found on their website. Educate and stay informed which makes more of a difference than venting online where they probably won't be reading them to...
Read moreUPDATE: This update to the review is regards to the Costco Auto program. I read a lot of reviews It was pretty intrigued. When I went to the website the way that the website reads is you can look at the vehicles. I am trying to get an ideas or I stand and want to look at used vehicles. Next thing I know is that's not possible, then I started getting phone calls from a dealer in Richmond. I didn't want to speak with anyone. I want to look at the vehicles online just to get an idea where I'm going. I plan on detail in how I shop, especially for a vehicle.
I have been coming to Costco for a very long time. Me personally I don't like the location being attached to them all because it's way too crowded. With that being said though they do my tires and they have products in their store that are different than other places. I purchased two tires for my vehicle. I never heard from Costco as I was told they had to be ordered. I called up I found out they have them I was able to take my vehicle in. I suspect my tire pressure monitoring system is probably off so I inquired to the sensors for the two tires being put on. It is an all-wheel drive vehicle I was told you have to purchase all four to put them on, however it's a financial issue and at the moment I'm only able to purchase two at a time. I was told it was about $43 per tire approximately. I went about my married business I came back to pick up the vehicle because it was finished. They scan my paperwork and said it was close to $212. I I asked why so much as it was only $43 per tire. They said well we replaced four sensors on the four tires. I never said anything about doing all four tires it was strictly for the two. They did refund two of the sensors but they're still on my car which I appreciate this but I feel kind of confused as to what just happened. They made a mistake but I've got four brand new sensors and I really only pay for two. I will be taking my car back up again when I purchased the other two tires. Maybe I can pay for those other two sensors on that date. I just don't see a purpose for buying four sensors for four tires when I'm only purchasing two new tires. I would never put new sensors in...
Read moreSummary: Please Costco, open more stores around this area to help reduce the overcrowding here!!
So this particular Costco isn't downright bad but def is one of my least favorite ones, if not my least favorite one I've been too. When you realize why you'll too wish that there were just more Costcos, or more wholesale options, around the area.
So this Costco is the only one for miles, the next nearest one is in Dale City. That alone can explained why this place gets such a huge, constant, unhappy crowd... since there's just legit no other Costcos around. Plus it's stuck on to the Spotsylvania Mall, and that contributes to the hassle of trying get to and thru here. Parking here is ample which is good but still ends up not being enough to meet the consistent demand, so expect to wait for good parking or park further away if you can. Location is convenient if you're planning on visiting other stores at the mall but the effects of concentrating so many things in one area and placing a Costco in the middle of it ends up being more a burden than a benefit in this case. Worse in this case since it's the only Costco for miles.
The selection of stuff isn't bad but doesn't quite have all the items you'd expect to find, and that's because this Costco is actually a bit smaller than most others. Which could be fine but actually contributes to problem I mentioned above that there's limited wholesale options around, so what you see is really what you can get in terms of wholesale. Then prices, again not bad but some items are a just bit more expensive here than at other Costcos I've seen too.
Customer service/employees here legit look swamped all the time too. Most handle the crowds like champs but can come off more stern since they need to be able to get thru so many things it looks like.
So overall, Costco is still great and this one does it's job but unfortunately falls short on these various things. Where really the only solution might be for Costco or any other wholesalers to open more stores around the area to help spread the places people...
