I have always used Experimax. But just recently I took an iPhone in to be repaired for the third time here. So frustrated from having to keep getting this phone repaired that I even inquired about Experimax purchasing the iPhone (they said they would but indecisive & frugal me, I wanted to see if it could be repaired ). So I dropped it off and left. The issue was that the iPhone would not come onā¦.I received a phone call a while later with the tech saying that the phone is on and I can come pick up free of charge b/c no parts had to be replaced š¤. I was baffled but happy. I got my iPhone and THREE WEEKS later (if that long) the iPhone started acting up , doing something different-it would not hold a charge past 3% and would turn off and on repeatedly. I took the phone back to Experimax and sat in there dozing off about 35 minutes while they did whatever they did only for the tech to say the phone wonāt come on and may need a battery replaced. Okay āmay needā , so I told dude to diagnose it , open it up -itās free right ā¦.so to my surprise he wouldnāt , he said that ā$60 for a possible battery replacement had to be approved before a diagnostics could be ranā ā¦.WTH!? I asked for clarificationā¦.ā I need to pay yāall $60 before yāall even replace the battery that may not even need to be replaced??āā¦.He said yes thatās correct. I said oh really well yāall want to buy it stillā¦he said āno unfortunately we canāt in the present state itās inā. So I took my iPhone and left and went to āUbreakIfix ā and guess what they said after a thorough diagnostic testā¦.they said the iPhone was UNREPAIRABLE because of a chip issue that supports charging. š©šµāš«š«¢ I TRULY BELIEVE EXPERIMAX broke my iPhone weeks back when they āran diagnostics and charged me $0 because no parts had to be replaced ā and when I took it back the other day they wouldnāt open the iPhone up to test anything because THEY KNEW WHAT WAS UP!!! Ugggggghhhhh!!! Iāll never use nor refer them anymore!!!!! So pissssedddd!!!! I should have known because dude (the tech) was acting very nervous like when I walked in and throughout my whole visit while interacting with me. I took it to the Apple store in Woodbridge and their only troubleshoot was literally to just try and turn it on, then told me Iād need a new motherboard for $600+. I passed. THEY then told me about Experimax, and being only ~6min from the house I decided to give them a try. These guys are great, they reminded me of the AV/Tech guys I hung around with in high school, they know their stuff and are MORE than happy to troubleshoot and test everything. Long story short - it was determined to be a faulty motherboard and charged me HALF the cost Apple wanted. They said itād take about 4 weeks to repair, I just got it back in under 2.5! NOW THAT COULD HAVE been the end to a happy story, however I expressed my concern that being without my work laptop would be detrimental to due dates and client projects. THEY GAVE ME A LOANER MACBOOK TO USE IN THE TIME BEING!!! They simply mirrored my harddrive, put in on the loaner and I never missed a beat. I was looking for an authorized apple repair center in Virginia Beach or Hampton Roads after being told it would be āimpossibleā to recover photos from iPhone after it took a swim and wouldnāt turn back on while on vacation. Apple Store wouldnāt touch it. Best Buy wouldnāt touch it. I couldnāt find any recommended places in Southeastern Virginia but Experimac in Fredericksburg was so highly recommended by the professionals I did speak with that I made the drive and am so glad I did.
