Possum-bilities — Local services in Fredericksburg

I absolutely love Possumbilities! I've been here a number of times, and every time has been a blast. I even had the pleasure of introducing a close friend of mine to the shop today :D

A wide variety of animals can be found here, including a bearded dragon, a cat, and even a pigeon! Most commonly, the rescue possums are the ones representing the shop. All of the animals are well-mannered, and their humans handle them incredibly well. Everyone is friendly and so excited to tell you about their animal companions!

The possum caregiver [and owner of the shop!] is often present and can tell you anything you could ever want to know about the fluffy little guys! She takes care of the possums that can't be released back into the wild for a variety of reasons. There are detailed profiles for each of the possums on a wall near the front door if you want to know more about them. :)

There are many notable names that sell here, from Fluffnest to Nekohana. I know a lot of the artists that sell here from other expos in town as well as seeing their online shops, so it's nice to know they support small businesses and artists.

This is by far my favorite shop in Fredericksburg. They are celebrating their one year Anniversary and feel so lucky this great shop calls Fredericksburg home. The shop is on the second floor of a unique candy shop/gallery and has such a wide range of products that any animal lover will enjoy.

When you walk upstairs you are greeted by awesome artwork by Molly, jewelry, knitted goods and some other awesome products in the hallway. Once you enter the shop there are walls of unique animal artwork, postcards, stuffed animals, purses, wallets, crocheted possums, coffee, books, sculptures, gifts galore.

What I love about the store is that the owner runs a legitimate possum rescue. When I say a possum rescue I do not mean the type where people have possums for pets so they can dress them up and put them on Instagram. She rehabs possums and has years of rehab experience. You will be so blown away by how sweet, adorable and precious these possums are (she has a handful who could not be released and help educate the public). The store posts the days of the week and hours that you will find a possum ambassador asleep in their adorable carriage in the store. You can pet them, but please don't ever try to pick them up or touch their faces. The store also hosts a variety of events including book readings, Hissing Booth (coming soon) and educational programs.

My mother found this shop on Facebook and surprised my partner and I with a trip from Richmond to Fredericksburg! Opossums are one of my favorite animals, I was extremely excited to have been able to finally meet one here! This shop was beyond wonderful, they had tons of knick-knacks and local artwork (some of my favorite things). While I was visiting this store I purchased some awesome artwork. It wasn't until I got home that I had noticed that there had been an accident and I had been overcharged. Since I wasn't local, I emailed the owner and I was met with a response in a very fast manner. They refunded the amount they could on my card and offered to send the rest that I paid in cash via paypal. I cannot express my gratitude enough for the incredible customer service I received not only in the store but via email while having my issue resolved.
