The newly opened Skechers store in Fredericksburg boasts a beautiful layout and is situated in an ideal location and offers great accessibility. However, the experience inside the store was unfortunately marked by serious operational challenges.
Despite the store being open for only two weeks, it was already clear that staffing was wholly insufficient for the volume of customers. At the time of my visit, approximately 60 to 70 shoppers were inside, yet only four employees were available: three assigned to the registers and just one on the sales floor. This imbalance created a chaotic environment, with long waits and limited customer assistance on the floor.
What makes this even more perplexing is the fact that, despite having ample time before launch, the store is still not listed on the official Skechers website. As a result, customers cannot check inventory online, verify shoe availability, or initiate in-store pickup. This lack of digital integration not only hampers the customer experience but places even more strain on an already overwhelmed staff.
To their credit, the staff remained friendly and courteous throughout, doing their best under difficult conditions. However, it's clear that they are being placed in an unfair situation due to inadequate planning and support from management or corporate.
Until a clear change in store operations or corporate support is implemented—particularly around staffing, inventory systems, and logistical readiness—I will not be returning to...
Read moreCan't give it any stars. I went in her with my kids to buy them shoes. My daughter found two that she liked but couldn't find the boxes for them. We had to search the store (very small store) for employees. One passed me off to another. The man seemed upset that I took the display shoes off the shelf and asked for him to help me find them. I asked him if he could locate the boxes in the store and he told me NO. Then he told me there was no automated system to tell him where the shoes were in the store or if they even had any more. WHATT? Is this the 21st Century?? My daughter is 2 years into a business degree and could tell 10 things that this man did that were wrong. Bad customer service and bad business practices will never make this store worth shopping in. We went to the next closets Sketchers where the staff COULD HELP US find the shoes we saw that fit my kids. Lost out on several hundred dollars worth of sales. I would rather drive 95 and get good customer service...
Read morePretty pleased with my recent visit! I have a foot issue that requires custom orthotics, so I really do need to try on shoes in-person to see if it fits right.
I see other reviews complaining about employees, but I was given plenty of assistance: One employee checked in on me and ended up making to trips to the backroom to see if they had the right sizes in stock (they did). Another employee offered to help me measure my 2.5yo son's size so I could quickly grab a pair of sneakers for him and take advantage of the buy one, get one 50% off deal.
I was also pleasantly surprised to see that it paid off to go in-store: The prices are much better. Many -- all? -- of the shoes had a price that showed the regular price and then an "Outlet" store price. In my case, the same set of sneakers that I ended up buying for myself cost $75 online but were only $50 in-store.
All in all, I'm a...
