We stayed at Spring View in Sevierville. This was a hazardous cabin with many items not to code, dirty and not cleaned, there were tons of ants, my husband was injured, air went out on day two, leaving the cabin 89 degrees and the customer service was atrocious with cleaning crew, "emergency maintenance", landscaper and manager. PICTURES ARE IN THE PHOTOS SECTION!! The cabin may have been the worst part but what kills us is that this company did NOTHING to remedy it.
When we arrived at 430 the cleaning crew was still cleaning the cabin and they didn't leave for another 20 minutes. The cabin as dirty and most noticeably the toilets not cleaned. The yard was completely trashed; the grass and bushes were all over grown, there was some wood in the yard with a large plastic tarp, there were several large holes containing tree branches and trash inside them. We couldn't let the kids play outside because of the hazards of falling in. The electric box was also located outside and open.
In the first 2 minutes my husband went to go upstairs and hit his head, causing a huge gash. He is 6' even. The stairs were not to code and the ceiling way to low. He bled off and on for several hours. He needed stitches but refused to go to the hospital because we were on vacation.
The hot tub was disgusting with several black spots of buildup. There was exposed indoor light fixtures on deck outside and the railing was missing from one side of the stairs, again hazardous.
We went to Dollywood on our first day. When we arrived back at the cabin that night at 1045 the cabin was 89 degrees. The air conditioning went out. We couldn't open any windows because there were no screens. We called the emergency number. The guy said he could possibly bring out some air conditioners and he would check and call back. He called back 15 minutes later and offered to move us to a cabin in Gatlinburg, which was an hour away. At this point it was already after 11, our 4 kids were in bed, there was a tornado watch and there was no way we could pack up in the middle of the night and move. He then said he would figure something out and call us back (not sure what happened to bringing us air conditioners except that he didn't seem to want to do this.) He never called back!! I'm not sure what the point of an emergency number is but they did nothing! The next day we had to wait until 9 to call the office. Someone got there at 1200 and said he would fix it. We left and went on our day. As we were headed back to the cabin, the landscaper calls and says he is on his way to mow the yard. We told him we didn't want the yard mowed while we were there and that we were leaving in the morning anyways. At the end of the day the yard getting mowed was the least of our concerns and he couldn't seem to understand the principle of having it done before we got there, not while we were on vacation.
There was also an ant infestation inside the cabin near the fireplace.
We spoke to the manager upon return and he refused to compensate for anything. Just plain, flat out told us no and too bad. He said the emergency guy said we told gim not to come out. I can understand that things happen but when it is this bad with so many issues, I expect that they would remedy the problem. They didn't and we will be reporting this to the local authorities and have this...
Read moreWe stayed in Honey Bear for a week in late February. The weather was very mild so we enjoyed the deck outside and being able to leave the backdoor open to let in that fresh mountain air. I love the layout of this chalet. Three bedrooms, all are masters and all are identical. Each master has a gorgeous bathroom area complete with a two person whirlpool, very sexy and romantic. My husband and I really enjoyed this feature. Location is very easy to get to and parking is so easy, you are in and out in no time. No treacherous driveway to climb or stairs, just pull right up to the door and unload. Game room downstairs is spacious with ample seating. The area the chalet is located in is very quiet and we loved that. There are three other chalets that share the same drive and are easily within walking distance, so the quiet is dependent upon how considerate your neighbors are. We would certainly rent this chalet again if it becomes managed by another rental company. Mountain Rentals is the sole reason I gave 1 star. It would be negative if it were an option. They automatically add trip insurance to your bill without your consent and with no explanation. So pay attention to the total rental price you are given. The trip insurance is quite expensive as well. I was told that I could not purchase trip insurance online separately from Mountain Rentals but that it was optional and could be removed from my bill. I did purchase trip insurance online that covered the entire rental cost for $35.00 cheaper than what they automatically added to my bill. Do not expect your rental to be exactly like it appears in pictures. I am not talking about walls needing a fresh coat of paint or furniture looking new in pictures and then being worn in person. I am talking about showing a TV to be in a room in a picture and then no TV when you arrive. Management did nothing in response to our call about this except to say no TV had been in the game room for more than a year and no picture showed a TV in that room, so therefore nothing would be done. I immediately went to their website and screenshot the very clear picture of a TV in the background of the game room. So I have proof their statement is false. The day we checked out I was so focused on not being a minute past checkout time, (because if you are, they start charging $50), that I did not check every drawer for missed items. I ended up leaving a zip up hoodie and VS pj's behind. The pj's were brand new. Leaving them behind was entirely my mistake. When we arrived home and I unpacked, I realized what had happened and called the next day. I explained in detail what was left, where I had left them and that I would pay the entire cost to have them returned to me. No one ever acknowledged my phone call or emails about this, so obviously I never got my things back. I found it to be totally unacceptable and unprofessional to not have the decency or courtesy to return a guest's phone call or respond to an email and offer some sort of response. They could have said we won't return them and at least that would have acknowledged my situation and me. They didn't do that so I filed a complaint with the BBB. Guess what the response was? More of the same. Will never use them again, but we...
Read moreJust arrived at Smoky Mountain Dreams and what a disappointment. First, there were leaves all over the driveway so thick that you couldn't see it. Then the porches had leaves 3 inches thick and we tracked them inside till the maintenance man came with the blower. Finally had their maintenance man come with a blower. Next the main bathroom toilet handle was falling off and maintenance man didn't have the replacement part. The bathroom downstairs locks you inside the bathroom unless you learn how to jiggle it. The reclining chair downstairs is broken (the leg piece that opens up). We also have a spider problem downstairs as well. The shower doors in the main bathroom are broke as well.
I rechecked the photos on the website and there are a number of differences from what really is in the cabin compared to the website photos. This is false advertising at best. The photos made everything appear to be much larger and updated. This is an outdated rental property. A very tired property that tried to use a lot of make up. The hot tub can barely fit two people and the hot tub is not even close to the photo on the site. Like really a 3 bedroom property with a 2 person hot tub.You can barely fit one suitcase in all of the bedrooms. Plus there are no ceiling fans in any of the bedrooms. First place I've stayed in without any ceiling fans in the bedrooms. The shower in the master fits anyone that is 160 lbs or less .There is a firemens stair case punched out in the main area and is so tiny you can barely fit to go down them to the next level. We've stayed on ski mountain in some nice properties. This property is the worst one in 15 years and no comparison to what we were expecting. Stay away from this property. Your money can buy much better. The photos of this place are way overstated of what it really is. Maintenance man came back and fixed the toilet handle. Just woke up this morning and the first time we tried to use the dishwasher it doesn't work. Called front desk and no answer for 20 minutes. Day 2 just tried using the dryer and the dryer doesn't work. Squeaking not drying and filter was taped with duct tape. Day 3 Hot tub is out haven't been able to use for two days. Day 4 called office at 10 am to have trash picked . Got back at 6PM trash wasn't picked up. Not surprising. Called again office closed and tomorrow is Thanksgiving and office is closed. Repair man checked hot tub and said it was in sleep mode . None of us touched the panel must have gone to sleep on it's own. No idea what tomorrow will bring Stay away you'll be disappointed don't waste your money like we did. Hopefully, someone from management will check with us to confirm if our assessment is correct. We can pull up the website together while...
