After reading the few reviews on this hotel and looking at the pricing, I decided to book this hotel during my time in Gatlinburg. I have quite a few points of discussion so I’ll start with the benefits.
Pros: -The location is close to downtown, but not directly in the middle of it, meaning the area around the hotel is fairly quiet! However, it is fairly easy to walk to downtown if you wish. -I’d say this hotel is budget friendly for the area. For a newer hotel, it won’t cost you huge amounts of money and additionally they do not request any deposit fees. -The rooms themselves have lots of space! The kitchenette is great for packing lunches or reheating leftovers. There’s a full sized fridge, sink, dishwasher, and some utensils available for use. Much better than going out and buying plastic utensils. -Lastly, the staff were very nice and friendly. If there was a separate category I’d give them a 5/5!
Cons: -Although the rooms themselves were spacious, but the quality and construction of them were partially poor. Examples include: drywall poking out, cracked shower floor, the top of the microwave door scrapping the bottom edge of the cabinet door when opened, and scuffed floors. -Overall, the rooms were fairly clean, however walking near the A/C unit there were dead bugs and dust bunnies on the floor. After seeing this, I was prompted to look for other factors regarding cleanliness and found an array of small hairs on the shower floor. In the grand scheme of things, these are minor inconveniences! Breakfast: this was a big one for me. I booked this hotel thinking breakfast was served daily. We got up our first morning and saw no breakfast. The front desk attendant said it was only served on weekends. We were really bummed about that, considering that we wanted some breakfast before our hikes. When we were checking out on a Thursday, a large group was staying there and they suddenly had breakfast, therefore it’s likely a volume thing. Just something to keep in mind when booking! -This hotel really wasn’t booked up at all, which was great until after hiking one day, we pull into the parking lot to discover it’s packed full. Turns out an entire team of highschool football players and their parents decided to book out a majority of the hotel. Nothing wrong with this, but maybe note that with cheaper prices and higher availability that larger groups have the potential of being there. -Finally, stemming off of this large group residing at the hotel, our last night there the fire alarm went off around 11:30 pm. One of those idiots burnt a pizza in the microwave and a haze covered the hallway. Obviously, not the hotels fault!!! However, there was some discrepancy on what to do, because the front desk person walked the floor and advised people to return to their rooms. When about 5 minutes later everyone was being evacuated so the fire department could clear the building. I think there was just some confusion or miscommunication, but either way wasn’t the best thing to experience.
After all this, I really don’t think this is a bad place to stay, especially if you’re looking for a place to just crash! If you plan to be out and about most of the day in Gatlinburg it’s not a bad option! I believe the price you pay reflects the value of what you get. Again, I wish I could give 5 stars alone for the staff I really appreciated them! I think a lot of the Cons listed were a bit nit-picky, but hopefully...

Room Rating: 5 stars, it had everything we needed and more including a full size fridge where we kept our leftovers from all the food! The microwave does scrape on the cabinets but that's not REALLY an issue. Otherwise well kept and tidy overall. AC blows really cold! This was a major plus after a long time outside! There were some dishes and utensils available since it was a suite. Also a cooktop and pans to cook your own food and a dishwasher to clean it all up. Our room was a single king size on the third floor.
Service: 5 stars, Alaina was really awesome and gave us some recommendations on what to do while we were there. We used the ice machine which was functional and were taken care of during our stay there.
Location: 5 stars ,location is superb! There is a free trolley stop a few hundred feet away from the hotel making it incredibly ideal to commute into the busy town of Gatlinburg (download the app to check the times and live location of the trolley). There's also an incredible ice cream/donut shop across the way. (Definitely would recommend if you fancy sweets.)
Breakfast: 2 stars. The breakfast is underwhelming giving you very little variety. Friday breakfast consisted of 3 cereal choices, a sad biscuit with just sausage. No egg, no cheese, no condiment to put on. Some juice options available in many hotels. There were waffles also being served. The apples were okay but not special. Saturday morning breakfast was a bit more well rounded, including all of the aforementioned breakfast items this time with eggs, the fridge was stocked with yogurt and breads and muffins as well. (why not every day?)
Overall definitely would recommend this hotel for it's friendly staff, clean facility, and location/cost of stay. Which was a driving factor in selecting this location during a holiday weekend, where other locations hiked their prices. Would definitely...
Read moreOn October 20, 2023 I checked into the Main Stay Suites 803 E Parkway Gatlinburg TN. Approximately 11:00 pm I went down stairs and complained to Shammar that there was a lot of noise coming from somewhere above my room 309. It was a lot of constant stomping, loud banging and the sound of something being dragged across the floor that was disrupting our rest. Shammar said that he would check into it. On Saturday morning October 21st I spoke to Crystal about the noise. On Saturday night the noise above my room persisted. I spoke to Todd about the loud noise and he said he would give someone a call about the noise. Sunday morning before check out the noise continued to disrupt our rest. When I checked out I informed Carlos that we had a very disruptive stay and that the toilet leaked, the microwave door scrubbed against the bottom of the top cabinet above alarming me at first, the shower door made a scrubbing noise when opened, the towel bar in the bathroom fell off when i removed my towel and hit me on the foot causing pain and when my husband my husband removed our clothing from the closet the bar fell down to the floor. I asked Crystal if she could give me a credit for our stay and she said that the manager Dustin would have to do that. I called Dustin on three occasions and left messages with Shammar and Carlos and he hasn't returned my phone call. When I checked out on Sunday morning October 22, 2023 Carlos informed me that he couldn't print me out a receipt because the printer was out of ink. i filed a complaint against Mainstay Suites with the better business bureau and I have yet to...
