Katz Hardware — Local services in Glastonbury

An amazing place!. I live in West Hartford and we have everything in town from Home Depot to a similar 100 year old hardware store. For years there have been things that I can find or get help with at Katz that the Lowes or Home Depot can't come close to, even with their size and stock. Katz always has it, no matter how bizarre, or unusual it may be. The staff is everywhere and they can answer any imaginable question you can come up with. In 2013 I needed a roof rake just when everyone else in the Northeast did. No-one in a hundred miles of my town had them. The owner of Katz ordered it them when no one else could. It came in later then expected but arrived within hours of the ice storm. He felt bad that it took so long to come in that he gave me a huge discount, clearly bellow wholesale. During the OCT 29,2011 ice storm only Katz had generators and he DIDN'T price gouge like everyone else did because of the storm. He was even lower to make sure people that needed them could afford them. In 2014 everyone including all grocery stores were out of ice melt. Katz got it in, and held it for me. Because of that kind of devotion to his customers, I will always have allegiance to this place. They just expanded, at a time when small business's are folding everywhere. The owner knows how to do business, and this "home town" hardware and home supply ( tons of stuff for the house) is the place to go before you go to the impersonal and poorly staffed Depot or Lowes. PS I am a real customer of Katz NOT an employee or family of the owners in case you're wondering. This review is as honest as they come....

I am beyond amazed by the incredible customer service I received at Katz Ace Hardware in Glastonbury today. Honestly, I've never had such a positive retail experience in my life.

I was trying to purchase equipment online yesterday but kept running into technical issues on their website and app. When I tried again today, the promotional deal I was after had ended. Disappointed, I decided to visit the store in person.

As soon as I walked in, I was greeted by Karl. I explained the situation to him, and to my absolute surprise, he honored the sale price for me—even though the promotion had expired. My jaw dropped. I couldn’t believe it.

Every time I visit this store, the staff is consistently friendly, helpful, and professional. But today’s experience truly took it to the next level. Because of this kind of service, they’ve earned a lifelong customer—deal or no...

If I could give 0 stars I would. This was my first and last time at an ACE hardwood store. I just moved to Glastonbury from NY and the experience at this store was subpar. SUPER RACIST employees who look at you from head to toe before answering any questions. I sat at the paint department for about 15 minutes to ask about Lime wash for my bricks. I was given a nasty attitude by the employee at the paint department. He didn’t look like he wanted to be bothered and originally told others that he couldn’t help before giving me a condescending answer and offering minimal help for the products I needed. He did not treat the white gentleman behind me with the same attitude which makes me wonder… if it was just towards me. I thought I was the only one this has happened to but, based on the reviews it clearly has happened to others. SAVE YOURSELF THE HEADACHE AND JUST GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. Such a disappointment since I like supporting family...
