Mattress Star — Local services in Glendale

We love Mattress Star and we are NOT easy to please. I purchased a wonderful mattress at a great price several years ago from Mattress Star and was happy to have the same positive experience 6 or 7 years later, when I needed another one-and not because the new one wore out, either. We just needed an extra bed.

Sarkis and Lucy are great at listening to our needs and wants as well as giving the absolute best options for our budget. They make the process easy and matter of fact, no nonsense, no silly or annoying phony sales techniques and no hassle. They listen and communicate the pros and cons of what we both wanted, for instance what we would compromise if we went for the short term budget restraints, versus the longer term value-based on OUR preferences. They do not push or pressure, rather they simply do a fantastic job explaining all of the options and then let us choose what works best for us. They do not attempt to push their stock on-hand to benefit themselves, but truly want us to get what we need, it’s pretty rad.

They are knowledgable about what mattress best suits how we sleep (stomach sleeper, side sleeper), back pain issues (the best firmness and mattress construction), and great at explaining the differences between how mattresses are made and how different designs and materials work (pillow top, memory foam, spring formation and so on).

When it comes to service, we were very pleased. Sarkis did a lot of heavy lifting, and helped us secure the mattress to the back of our little pickup truck so well that even a 20+ mile drive which included some fast and wild turns did not shake that baby loose! Lucky us, because we were ready for a nap after that road trip.

Finally, we got a great and very fair, deal, because we are on a budget and not only were they generous in the deal that we got, but very pleasant too. And the process was fast-they gave us plenty of time to think, and when we needed to get going on to our next adventure on our long list of to-dos, they helped us wrap it up quickly and keep on truckin’. We had a better day, due to the fantastic experience that we had there, and I cannot remember when-if ever-that has happened before. I wish I could write a good review on this store because after reading the other reviews it seems Lucy the owner is awesome. So I will specify that this review is NOT based on Lucy’s customer service at all. She likely is amazing but when I went I was greeted by a gentlemen who helped me. My interaction with him was great. I told him I was there to check out the Maxim line. I had been to other stores and liked them but I was also still trying other mattresses and wasn’t fully decided. I left the store undecided and went home to do some research on various brands. I ended up buying from another company the next day and a bit later this salesmen texted me asking if I was still interested in buying from him. I told him transparently that I just bought a mattress and which one and he said I should have texted him to compete with pricing because he could have given me a better price. I told him if something didn’t work out with the mattress I was getting I’d give him a text. Well… the mattress ended up being too soft and not supportive enough as well as having a dent on the side of it. The company I bought from (which I won’t name to be fair to Lucy) was and is ethical and agreed to return the mattress and give me a refund because I didn’t love anything else in their store. Most companies won’t do that. Since I was doing a return and no longer tied to the store I bought from I texted the mattress star guy to start inquiring about other brands and models. He then told me this…. “Sorry to ask but are you coming to try the mattress only and not do business with us because we don't like to get in the middle of customer and another store.” This is after I told him I was RETURNING the other mattress which I then reiterated. I also said I’m not fully decided on a mattress and open to whatever business will give the best price. He then said “Then get the price from other before coming to our store so we could make a deal same day.” Very pushy in my opinion, which I didn’t appreciate.
