Legacy Cakes — Local services in Grapevine

I absolutely hate to do this because I really thought I would love this cake since this place is so popular and it's not horrible but it's not what I was expecting. The two purple cake photos are what I sent as a reference of what I was wanting and I even asked to see the butterflies they were going to put on my cake and she did say they won't be these exact butterflies she showed me but I thought she meant the color not the size. The butterflies I saw where much bigger than what I received. My cake looked really plain compared to what I was looking for and I didnt think I was asking for too much i wanted the butterfliesto be the focal point. Not only that but there was a bead missing that I didn't notice til I got home some tiny black spots that made the cake look dirty I don't think anyone noticed since it was small pieces here and there it did start to bubble out as well. Honestly none of that is a huge deal my expectations of this place were just a little shattered and I wouldn't even complain about it if the taste of the cake was better the frosting was way too thick and the strawberry cake just wasn't it for us mind you we love strawberry cake. This was just my experience though and yours might be better I suggest trying maybe their smaller items first to make sure you like their product and maybe be a little more detailed with them of what you want because maybe I wasn't...

Never have I or my wife ordered a custom cake before. We knew what we wanted mostly for our youngest son. We wanted to go all out, money was no object. After researching we decided to try Legacy Cakes. We drove from Keller to Grapevine and found that parking was not much of an issue, even though Legacy Cakes was in downtown Grapevine. You walk in and the smell immediately makes you hungry. We were greeted warmly and professionally. We described what we wanted and they began scetching what they thought we wanted. It was perfect. They threw in some suggestions and we went for it. We paid a modest deposit of half the cake, got a receipt and left. I will not mention pricing, but I will say I would have paid ten times what we did for the same cake, service, and experience again easily. Ordered an Elvis-themed cake for my mother-in-love’s 80th birthday party and it was PERFECT. We needed a cake big enough for 50 people, and they nailed it – we actually had a bit leftover. The whole experience from ordering to pick up was very easy. When I told them the concept we were going with, they knew exactly what we wanted.

The party was a blast, and I’m not a cake person at all, but this cake was absolutely delicious. It was very moist and had a nice balance of savory and sweet, with the perfect sugar ratio. It wasn't overly sweet at all. The buttercream icing was to die for! Her friends are still talking about it.
