If you don't already buy in bulk, staple groceries at Aldi is like a walk-through coupon.
If you go be sure to: • Check the weekly ad (Like any supermarket) • Bring a quarter for the cart • Bring some bags. You can also buy reusable ones or nice paper bags (12 cents) at checkout. Or snag an empty box.
I grew up shopping with my mom at Aldi and I have grown up comparing the Lancaster Aldi with the other supermarkets in town (Kroger, Meijer, Walmart) and here is what I have found.
Cons of Lancaster Aldi: • Bags for groceries are not provided for free. • It is not a one stop shop for home needs. If you need or enjoy that extra 20 minutes then skip Aldi and go to Meijer or Walmart. • Their produce can lack consistent availability. • They heavily push organic foods, which is admirable but just not affordable for a lower-income budget. • Their fresh meat is generally not competitive aside from some deli cuts. Meijer consistently offers the best deals on meat in town. • Since they changed location, their carts seem a tad too big. This can make the shopping experience a little awkward.
Pros of Lancaster Aldi: • You can save around 20% on NON-ORGANIC food and household staples when compared to most other places. That adds up! • Highly competitive organic prices • Consistent and affordable good-quality frozen goods • Safety. This is entirely my personal opinion, but the people who go to Aldi generally seem like a safer crowd to be around when compared to other places. This might be due to the quarter cart system or a lack of available recreational...
Read moreI love the store itself. However when I went today, I got treated with such rudeness. I don’t normally complain. Let alone write a review. The lady checking me out, her name was Jennifer. I work retail, so I understand how it can be. However, if you can’t be nice or at best just present. Then you don’t have any business being a cashier. She was extremely rushed as if I had just caused her entire life to change. While being in her line a total of 4 minutes. I deal with anxiety as is. So her being rushed and crude made me want to just walk out. She wasn’t even finished giving me my change back before throwing the next persons stuff in the cart. I understand again how it can be. However, we are all in that line. We all waited patiently. There was no need to be rude. I had to write a google review because you can’t go to Aldi directly. So I’ll say again, if you cant be nice, get off the line. Thank you for listening to me vent. Sense I may...
Read moreGenerally I really like this store/chain. But lately you've had some corporate knucklehead who's obviously under a lot of misconceptions about retail theory who's screwing with product placement and making me walk 2x as far to get from one product to the next by closing walkways in the center of the store. This is idiotic management behavior that I would expect from Kroger... Not Aldi. I get that you have to rotate stock, but keep the same kind of of things in the same places so I don't have to guess where it is each subsequent visit. And making me walk twice as far is more that just annoying. It causes aisle congestion and hinders movement for people with mobility issues. I know that you did it to get more shelf space and to keep people in your store longer, but that is not always a good thing. Your choices turned my 5 minute trip to get 3 things into a 25 minute saga... 🤨 Don't become Kroger. I don't shop there anymore...
