On yesterday eights families, including myself were displaced by a natural disaster. My initial encounter with organization was very disappointing. We were told by our Apt. manager that we would receive a voucher for a hotel stay from Red Cross. Once Red Cross arrived we were advised that we did not meet the parameters to receive a voucher. I will not get into the nuances of who receives a voucher and who does not. I’ll let the Red Cross use the situation as a learning curve. However, they did provide each family with sleeping cots and two hot meals, for which I am very thankful! I have donated to this Organization in the past, and will continue to do so. I have donated numerous times over the years with Red Cross blood drives around the country. I was astonished at the rudeness of nearly every single staff person who took blood from both adults and willing high schoolers. I felt like all we were were walking veins.
