Terrible ordering experience. Food is a step up from Dennys but is overpriced. In short there is a pricing discrepancy (and menu detail discrepancy specifically with the Ever Popular Joe dish) when ordering through chownow
Let me start off by saying too, when you go to this restaurants website and try to place an online order it redirects you to order through chownow. According to a store manager there are discrepancies with their menu in restaurant and chownow. If this is known, the restaurant should not be allowing online ordering until it is fixed.
Ordered the biscuit and gravy dish..... pay close attention to that not being plural, because we didn't and were shocked when we paid $14.69 for one whole biscuit, 2 eggs and some potatoes. Dish tasted ok, the texture of the biscuits was extremely dense and firm. Gravy was great!
Ordered the Ever Popular Joe dish for $13.99 and in chownow it states it comes with the egg scramble, home fries, diced red potatoes and pancakes. It was missing the home fries. Dish tasted good.
Ordered Banana Pecan Praline French Toast for $12.49. When we picked it up we got one full slice of bread cut in half..... we were told it is $12.49 for a half order of french toast and would be $1.50 more for a full order.... and this is where the biggest discrepancy is. First let me just say this is just french toast, it doesn't come with anything else, no sausage, no eggs..... just french toast and I'm being told it is $14 for a full order and $12.49 for a half!?! Do the math. In the end after speaking with 5 employees, the restaurant manager came over, informed us of the chownow discrepancy and gave us a FULL order at $12.49 to make it right. Unfortunate that it even takes that though, managers shouldnt be the only emloyees with common sense. Why does it take a manager to come over to realize that paying $12.49 for a half order and $14 for a full is absurd, especially when they know there is a discrepancy in pricing via chownow, the website they direct you to when placing an order online through their website. Also, the french toast was missing the 'Praline' part, there was no candied pecans on it, only bananas.
Will very likely not be back, most definitely not...
Read moreThe food here is absolutely a cut above the rest. Great shaded patio before 10 am to get a break from the inevitable heat of the day. You must get there early or you will be in line from 1 to 2 hours waiting in the sun. This was my first visit and I absolutely tried the pancakes. Amazing. The bacon is out of this world. The corned beef hash is worth standing in line for. My over medium eggs were under done and I really didn't care. The omelets are enough for Paul Bunyan. Hash browns so perfect I can't even find the words. Fresh squeezed orange juice was a very pleasant surprise. You absolutely must try the Cherry Kijafa crepes!! One of the best things I've ever eaten in my life. But the best thing I've ever eaten in my life from this amazing restaurant is the Dutch Baby. WOW 🤣 perfectly exquisite and sinfully rich. The only thing this restaurant is locking is more locations!! The servers and everyone behind those doors are professionals. You must try this restaurant. A++ Back again ... lol We just can't stay away! Again this morning the food was fantastic. I had Mary's eggs benedict which was Savory and Rich and delicious. Hubby had corned beef hash and eggs with sourdough toast and their special preserves. Jen was our server again on the patio. She brings warmth and laughter in such a genuine way to your experience that you just want to keep coming back. She let me take her picture today to add to my review which I'm grateful for. She is an outstanding server to say the least. So come on out and see Jen and have some really good food and be sure to tip your servers well they work hard for it. Now we're at the lake and it's time to ride the jet skis so everybody...
Read moreA birthday breakfast tradition in the making
Took my son Sam to The Original Pancake House for his 12th birthday—his first time experiencing this Colorado breakfast institution. I’ve been many times, but this was a big moment for him. He’s now the first in our family to be initiated into the Dutch Baby club… and judging by his reaction, this might just turn into a birthday tradition.
They’ve got a few locations around Colorado—DTC, Cherry Hills, Denver, Boulder, Colorado Springs. The vibe is consistent across the board: warm, bustling, and committed to doing breakfast right.
Sam went all-in on his birthday splurge—fresh-squeezed OJ, chocolate milk, and the Dutch Baby. If you’ve never had one, imagine a German pancake on steroids: airy, golden, slightly crispy at the edges, with a custardy center and layers that hold a dusting of powdered sugar just right.
The serve brought him a surprise birthday crêpe too—stuffed with strawberry preserves and lemon. I may have eaten more of it than he did. No regrets.
I ordered the traditional eggs Benedict (Sam had never heard of one), and while it was solid, it wasn’t the star of the table. Next time? I’m getting the apple pancake—one of their signature dishes I’ve heard about forever but never actually tried. Max, you’re up next… birthday breakfast at The Original?
If you’re moving to Colorado or just exploring the area, this place is a must-visit for a classic breakfast done with care. And if you’re a local like me—especially one who helps people buy or sell homes in Colorado—you know these kinds of spots are what make neighborhoods...
