If I could give this place 0 stars, I would. I received my engagement ring the week of 6/28 and brought it in for sizing days later. It was promised on 7/21. On 7/23, I was notified that the sizing was done poorly, the stones were loose and the shank was too thin. I received photos and could tell the ring was no longer a circle and one corner of the main diamond was out of line. It was sent back in for a second repair and that’s when the manger Rod got involved. He said he was on vacation and was not aware of the ring having problems, which I do not understand how since he’s the manager and should know what’s coming and going from his store, regardless of who sent it out. It was promised again 8/3. On 8/6, I received a call from Rod that he received the ring back and was still unhappy with the repair and was going to have to order me a brand new ring and have it sized. The ring would be coming first from CA to the store in SC, THEN again have to be sent out for sizing. Rod offered to let me take the DEFECTIVE ring and wear it until the new ring came back. I told him I wanted to speak to the district manager and Rod assured me he would have his boss call me. I came up to get it that evening and there was nobody available to give it to me. The two people including Rod were helping other people and I couldn’t wait so I had to come back the next day and get the defective ring, which slides all over my finger, but is better than telling people you got engaged and having NO RING on your finger. Rod PROMISED he himself would see it through and take care of me and get it done. It’s is now August 22nd and I have not heard a WORD from Rod or the district manager regarding a promise date for the new ring or the conversation I asked to have with the district manager. NOT A WORD. I came to the store today to find that Rod is ONCE AGAIN gone for the weekend, which he seems to always be gone. The other manager called Rod, who then relayed the message from Rod saying, “It is in the shop and he will have the district manager call you.” But he provided no time frame or promise date for the ring. I told the other manager this was not ok and we were not happy. She said the district manager covers two districts and that’s probably why he hasn’t called me. That is unacceptable customer service! All I have got from Kay Jewelers in Greenwood SC is garbage—garbage product, garbage customer service, and a bunch of broken promises. This management team needs an overhaul from the district to the store. My fiancé is paying for this ring every Friday and he is keeping his end of the deal. Kay Jewelers has failed on every level. I will be going to corporate, as I have been patient and polite this whole time but I’m tired of getting the run around. The ring will be paid off in the 90 days as promised, and I haven’t even been able to wear it at all or have had to wear their junk product as a supposed consolation the whole time it’s been being paid for. Terrible! Take your...
Read moreMy fiancé has purchased me two different rings from this Kay’s. My original engagement ring he picked for me was deemed defective after going back and forth to their shop for a month straight. I had diamonds falling out left and right from my original ring, beginning on the day he proposed (SUPER EMBARRASSING). At first, we were told they could order us the same ring that would have the same issues from a different store because it was being discontinued, and we could not get a refund because he had the ring for more than their return policy stated. The only other thing they would do for us was exchange the ring.
I have small hands, a size 5 ring to be exact, and I was worried that I would have the same issues with the new ring that the manager helped us pick out. The manager assured me I would not have these issues with this ring. He also never explained to us that Lab Created diamonds are essentially worthless and cannot be used towards their “lifetime diamond trade in”, I only found this out after the ring was purchased and had a diamond fall out. Nevertheless, I was very careful, never wearing it to work, and I still ended up losing a diamond from the side. After dealing with the store manager, district manager, and customer service, we still have no real answer on how we will be compensated for this terrible mess. We were told we could get a refund by the manager, yet he only was going to refund the difference that was paid for the new ring and not the other ring my fiancé originally bought because he said he did not know how to. His district manager said then that we could not have a refund period because of the original ring being purchased too long ago. Aka they do not want to lose out on the money and could careless about their customer satisfaction. The only solution the district manager had was to have us spend more money on a “custom” ring that will take over two months to make. Customer service has been helpful, but their “investigation process” is said to be slow and does not guarantee we will even get the refund we deserve.
I took my set into a local jewelers to see how they could help us and was told the exact reason that my ring had diamonds fall out was because they sized it completely wrong and “the easy way”, so the whole integrity of the ring is completely compromised. The workmanship on these rings are completely garbage and made so you have to constantly use their warranty.
So now, I am here with no ring until we get an answer, which we were told will take a month to get, and we have spent way more money than wanted on two rings that I cannot even wear. I cannot even be happy about being engaged or show off a ring thanks to Kay Jewelers. I will never recommend Kay Jewelers to anyone who wants quality jewelry, and I will never make a purchase from Kay...
