For almost three years I have regularly shopped at Harps to get gasoline, cash my paychecks, or pick up a few items. Each and every time I have visited this store I've received much less than satisfactory service and endured terrible attitudes, snide comments, and rude behavior from the company's employees, but I've kept my mouth shut because I have never felt disrespected enough to complain until now. Like many people I've been struggling to make ends meet lately, and two days ago I stopped at Harps to use my change and put a little bit of gas in my car since they have the cheapest gasoline prices in town. I went into the gas station attached to the store and immediately apologized to the cashier because I was already ashamed that I had to count change in order to get gas. I told her that I only had $1.25 and told her which pump I was on, and I started to separate the change and count it for her. To my surprise, she shot me the most disgusted, dirtiest look I've ever received and told me that she wouldn't take my change. I asked her what she meant as she glared at me and she informed me again that she wouldn't take my change, and told me I'd have to go to the front of the store and cash my change in at the Coinstar machine and then she would take it. I informed her that I was not going to pay a percentage of what little money I obviously had when I needed every bit of gas I could afford to get home. I stated again that it was only $1.25 and asked if it was a company policy to not accept change for fuel, but she purposefully ignored me and began assisting the next customer. I gathered my change and told her I would take my business elsewhere, to which she sarcastically replied "have a nice day." I have never been treated so terribly in my life, and I am still wondering why she and the Harps company would refuse to accept a legal form of US currency as payment for fuel. I am 100% positive, however, that I will NEVER waste my time being treated like trash by "customer service representatives" that have no idea what their job actually entails, I will not spend a single dime of my hard-earned cash at this Harps store again, and I will make sure to tell everyone I know all about my experience with these incompetent people. I will never recommend this store to anyone I know, nor do I recommend it to anyone looking for an enjoyable shopping experience. I'd rather pay another 25 cents or even a dollar more per gallon than be treated...
Read moreI shop here regularly. They have just about anything you need. While Walmart is close by with its various other items, Harps is the place to go for product lines you won't normally find at Walmart. They also had a remodel, so you'll find fresh lobsters in the back along with more of your actual seafood needs. For health nuts or those that don't want products filled with tons of chemicals, go to Harps. They are an employee owned establishment that really does care about their customers. The ladies (sometimes gentlemen) at the registers do enjoy conversations with their customers and you can really get to know them. The selections overall here are the best. Only downside, is I have to go to Walmart for some shopping, and then here for other items. They have the best option for frozen pizzas as well. If Harps had everything I needed, I would only shop here. It's just like Reasors if you love to shop there. Self checkout has been added to...
Read moreI do most of my shopping in this location. And though I prefer shopping here over Walmart, I have two major gripes about this store that have been an issue time and time again. The new fresh seafood market closes so early! And a couple of times we have been denied an order by employees saying that it was too late. Closing the seafood market at 4:00-5:00 on a weekend is unbelievable. I asked the manager about it and she said that managers were not trained to sell seafood. Insane. There is only ever one, maybe two checkout lanes open. There is an express lane where you can bag your own groceries, but it’s never been opened. Since I keep getting blown off about my complaints, maybe a negative review will get someone’s attention. Harps, I love you....
