Petco — Local services in Gypsum Township

The worst grooming service I have ever experienced. For starters, I usually wash and groom my own dogs but due to the holiday craziness i didnt have time so I figured ill take them to get washed and Ill trim them up at home. One of the groomers when I got there was almost making it sound like I dont know how to take care of my dogs and what they need done. I told this individual no i will do it at home. She kept pressing and pressing I said ahh whatever sure wont hurt just a little more ill have to pay. Not only did my total for 2 dogs come out to 170$ they came out with injuries. One of my dogs came out with a scratch on his nose and the groomer had the audacity to ask if it was there before, like no ma’am… I brushed it off cause he probably hit his nose or something which doesnt make sense because he doesnt fight with anything but hey i wasnt there. The other wasnt even finished. They told me they wanted me to bring her back after them having her for 4 1/2hours. INSANE! I get home and im petting my dog and I feel patches of hair missing from her neck area under her ears. I immediately took her to a better lit area and found horrible burns, scratches i dont even know some marks. She had some matts but not bad enough for her to one not be completed and two to be scratched up the way she was. I was extremely horrified of how they treated them. I cried because I can only imagine the pain. That stuff hurts, I had to put medication on it and give her lots of love I felt so bad. NEVER will I ever take them back to this place. I would give 0 stars if that...

I can’t speak for customer service in this store, but if you want to buy fish that are kept in good conditions, this is the place to go!

I had time to kill and decided to look around this Petco. I’m an avid fish keeper, so my first stop was the fish section. The fish were kept in excellent condition - I didn’t see any dead fish in the tanks, which is shocking for a pet store chain.

I also noticed that a staff member had written on the tanks. On the larger tank they keep goldfish and koi in, it said “Spot the difference - Koi have whiskers.” which I thought was really cool. It’s a good way for kids that come in to learn, along with adults that don’t know much about fish! It also shows that the staff at this store are knowledgeable about fish.

They also had an excellent selection of aquariums, including bow front and LED lighted ones. They even had an aquarium specifically for shrimp and plants. Additionally, their selection of bettas always amazes me! They have some of the most colorful and gorgeous bettas I’ve seen in a pet store.

Overall, the way a store cares for the animals it’s selling says a lot about them. This store clearly cares about the pets it has for sale and has gone the extra mile to care for them and educate the public on how to properly care for them. They also have a huge selection with almost anything...

Arrived at store in Derby, KS at 7:05 pm found group of senior citizens outside open doors standing in the cold. The self identified 'Store Manager' named Remy was kicking everyone out pf the store saying they were closed. The sign on the door says 730pm, the website says 730pm and their corporate office says its supppsed to be 730pm. Remy gave me a bogus name for the GM and a bogus phone number. their corporate office gave me Lyle - refused last name or llcation. Felt so bad a little old Lady was trying to get dog food before the snow and ice storm hit and she was turned away while customers were checking out and they were on open hours. One customer even pointed out to Remy the their website says open. But he just flippantly dismissed him. Remy then said their posted store hours must be a corporate mistake. Rather than calling anu finding out if he is wrong he just kept kicking people out and turning them away. I know Petco filed for an IPO but wow! Would not invest in this place if they don't even know their store hours. Maybe they are closing for good... felt so bad for the grandma in the parking lot worried about getting dog food. Offered to take her to Wal Mart. She is going to Atwoods...
