This is my first time visiting a Lidl, and I'd say it's about half the sz of a Stop & Shop or ShopRite supermarket.
I visited the week they opened, so everything was fully stocked, fresh, and there were many yellow tag promotions!
The fresh croissants are so good! I'd have to pay $3-4 for one in Manhattan, and theirs is only $0.50
There were at least 2-3 huge crates full of inventory sitting at various aisles, and for a small sz market, it looks like they just don't have enough space for all inventories and the large crates are blocking off inventory.
Many of the items are imported, like Trader Joe's , and prices are competitive with each other.
I love the options of a self kiosk check out or wait for a staff to ring up your grocery haul.
I am not a fan of their shopping cart systems. You will need to insert $0.25 into a gadget mounted on their cart handles to use one. I get that it encourages people to return the carts to their storefront in order to retrieve their quarter back. It’s just not in your favor when you don’t have...
Read moreIve always enjoyed Lidl when I visited in Bergenfield or Paramus. However, I’ve been to this new Hackensack location twice and have not been pleased. On my first visit, an item was scanning at an incorrect price and the manager that came over to assist me was quite rude and not welcoming at all. Yesterday I was there and there were no cashiers at all, only the self checkouts and the line was quite long. I had to wait about 10 minutes in order to check out and this is just not acceptable. This location is noticeably smaller than the others in the area, with only a few lines and the employees have not impressed me either. They also have pay carts and you have to scan your receipt to exit the store, which I have not seen at other locations. The store layout is also strange. I guess this is a convenient option for those in the nearby apartment complexes, but I will not be returning. I’d rather shop at the other Lidl...
Read moreI know this place has been open less than a month, but come on! The carts in front are always stuck together, and are impossible to separate! Staffing is barely available to help. When i went on a Monday at 5pm, there was not a single cashier available and was forced to use the automated checkout. I asked where all the cashier where and was told, that management probably didn't schedule them. This is an unacceptable way to do business. The Aldi down the street knows how to run an efficient store, and is the reason why they are always busy, even on a Monday.
Management you need to do better! Until then I will continue to do my bulk shopping at the superior Aldi, even if it has less product availability. Sincerely A...
