I love this store. It's even better now since it's been remodeled. I like that there are more vegan options. The produce is always wonderful. Prices are unbeatable.
I will suggest a few things and I hope someone from the company sees and considers them.
The next time corporate send their suits and clipboards in for a walkthrough, send some people with manners. I went in a couple of weeks ago first thing in the morning. 8am when they open. First, when I walked in, they were crowded at the door. I didn't receive a proper greeting, but rather, "sorry, we're a little tight in here". Well, that's a fine how-do-you-do...
The employees looked as if they had been shouted at for a better portion of the morning. now, that is speculation however, the employees were clearly not happy and it was noticable. They're usually quite happy and polite. Next, while in the aisles, the walkthrough continued and one of the ladies from corporate continued to harass the employees. Yes, I do say "harass" because she was quite condescending. It made me uncomfortable due to second hand embarrassment.
I didn't hear any compliments at all. The store looked fabulous. This is coming from a person who has spent quite a lot of time in retail as both an associate and manager. This is not how you talk to people especially in front of customers. The lady from corporate passed me in the aisles several times, with a trail of employees behind her. Not once did she acknowledge my presence, ask me if I needed help finding anything, or even ask me how I was doing that day. She walked in front of me while I was looking at products on the shelves and couldn't be bothered to excuse herself. (The employees did.)
She never asked me if I needed help to find anything or even ask how I was doing. (The employees did.) She was more concerned about telling her employees what an awful job the employees were doing as opposed to setting an example. This brought me from uncomfortable to angry. How can she berate these hard working people IN FRONT of customers?! Really, the audacity was strong with this one. Much stronger than her customer service.
All this just to say, the employees are wonderful, however, corporate may want to make some adjustments to their own people and practices before dispatching them to the public again. Also, if you're going for a walkthrough, maybe do it BEFORE you open your store for business hours. There's absolutely no need to embarrass the hardworking people who take care...
Read more*BEWARE EMPLOYEES WILL GO IN YOUR PURSE AND CLAIM YOU STOLE YOURE OWN BELONGINGS!!!!((and no that wasn't even the original reason she went in the purse which was more disturbing)) My mother and I come here and majority of our shopping since its cheap and right around the corner. So we spend a ton of time and money here. Well... Unfortunately today in the middle of the register freezing up and causing a huge line the cashier was agitated and at some point she for some reason reached INTO MY CHILDS STROLLER and INTO MY 60 YEAR OLD MOTHERS BAG (NOT A SHOPPING BAG, PERSONAL) and took out MY MOMS HAIRSPRAY and said very LOUD """"YOU STOLE THIS!!!""""" WoW SMDH a $2 hairspray from Dollar General huh and after we just spent $70 on grocery.. Really?? And she was nasty about it and didn't care that she was wrong..... she didn't wanna hear it!!! It was humiliating!!! Espeacially considering church just let out and everyone in line was dressed up with their kids!!! The manager came, the cops were called after my mom got fed up n yelled back at her and grabbed her hair spray back! I don't blame her! That's really humiliating for someone that never would do something of that nature to begin with! My mom was a teacher in Montgomery county for special needs kids in elementary school for 17 years and my father was was a police officer for 20 years in that area! She wasn't cut from that kinda cloth! What's the deal with people in Hagerstown!?!?! What happened to employees following protocol... THAT'S how that's supposed to be handled?? The manager did nothing either! That employee was fat, loud, and trashy!! My mom was then banned from the store I guess because she defended herself n yelled back and the manager refused to go check the camera footage for my mom and the cop!! That made no sense!!!! We've always had good encounters with employees there but now I guess they hire anybody! And I guess employees are allowed to help themselves to your purse and incriminate and humialate you over over their incompitant assumption. Def aren't gonna stop til something is done about this!!! I'm pissed!! We spend $100's there!! Ohh and what do ya know... My mom left the store with HER hairspray in good graces with the...
Read moreStaff was nice but the overall experience left me not wanting to return. Firstly the parking lot is a very tight and difficult to navigate during a bust period. Drove in circles for about ten minutes till a parking spot became available. Large groups of roaming through the parking lot panhandling and approaching individuals asking for handouts and causing traffic backup. Once in the store and shopping many items were damaged on shelf or out of stock. Store was completely overcrowded making it difficult to even get through the store. Partially my fault for not being familiar with the store, I came unprepared with no pocket change so I couldn't get a cart till I stood in line for fifteen minutes just to get a quarters from a cashier in exchange for a dollar so I could get a cart. Then having to leave my children unattended in a car while I ran the shopping cart to the store front was an uneasy experience I don't look to repeat. Then having no bags or containers for groceries is a huge inconvenience. These many inconveniences don't justify the slightly reduced grocery prices in my opinion especially considered the lack of variety and quality of...
