PRESS TO TAKE A LARGE, HEAVY DRESSER TO GOODWILL instead of my new home, I forgot about the IMPORTANT picture that was in the top drawer of that dresser. I dropped the dresser off on Saturday 3/1/25 - but didn't remember the picture until 3/3/25 - I drove scared from VA Beach to Hampton to look for that dresser which I KNEW was going to be sold really quick - it was of high quality - it wasn't there but I wasn't going to leave without inquiring about the SONOGRAM PICTURES that was in the top left drawer. I Asked EVERYBODY, I asked Management (most thought I was more concerned about the dresser when ONE of the workers in receiving stated, "So, you are more concern with the Sonogram pictures than the dresser", YES was my response. That caused a shift in the questioning of the workers when ONE man, spoke up stating I think I may have been the one who got those pictures, stating he placed them in a shredder. Heartbroken hearing that from him with all those workers around, yet the Supervisor I spoke with at first stated that, the shredder is Locked, they don't have access to the inside content, only the company that comes to pick up the container does. She INFORMED me, she would do All she could to retrieve the SONOGRAM pictures but the company didn't arrive normally until Thursday. She asked that I leave an emergency contact information if by chance they are able to get those PICTURES. TO GOD BE THE GLORY....I made 6 drop offs at this location in 5 days, BUT those pictures were a treasure that was RETURNED BACK TO ME. That memory of his removing the pictures based on what he heard when he walked up in the last minute, the will to do everything that could be done to retrieve the picture, the CALL THAT CONFIRMED the pictures were retrieved, much sooner than expected, THE FACT THAT THEY ARE IN MY HAND as I type, I can't thank you guys ENOUGH for going outside the box, for listening with a will to retrieve something that treasured me so, so much. I APPRECIATE THE ENTIRE CREW from the 1st days of my dropping things off, greeting me with smiles or welcome back....the lasting impression of what you did to satisfy this one customer means the world to me. I DON'T remember names but I truly remember faces...I will never forget him for remembering and her for retrieving, it goes to show ONE MAN'S JUNK, IS ANOTHER MAN'S TREASURE. Sincerely, A. PARRISH. Thank You, Thank You, Thank you...you guys broke the glass...
Read moreThe retail store is great and the outlet store is always something to look forward to but the stars are because of the customers and the lack of restraint they show and the lack of enforcement the employees have against their “favorites.” There’s a guy that goes by “Ike” that is there shopping all day and brings the employees stuff and has secured himself as pretty much untouchable and can do what he pleases. He disregards the rules everyone else has to follow, babysits the backroom door and no one will do anything to reprimand him the way they do everyone else. Even with constant complaints against him. I’ve dealt with him and his antics a lot and just try to ignore him and do my own thing but today I was shocked to see him jump the gun on a cart they just brought out and shoved someone’s kid out of the way to get to something the kid was after. (The kid was next to his dad so it wasn’t like he was wandering around like the others do) The dad looked really angry and b-lines to the front, I guess to tell a manger. The kid was clearly still upset when they walked back and apparently the managers not going to do anything about the assault on his child. I tried to talk to his dad to make sure the child was okay but he wasn’t in the mood so I just said “I hope your kids okay” and walked away. As long as your a favorite regular, this place is the best but if you’re not the “elite 3” you’re on your own. No matter who you are, you should be expected to behave the same as everyone else and abide by the same rules! One man should not be able to be that aggressive and get away with it simply because he’s on a first name basis with the manager and employees. I see both the dad and Ike in there all the time and the dad always keeps to himself and is more than generous and considerate to everyone and keeps his kids well behaved and it was really sad to see that rewarded with what I saw today and the inability for the manager to show any concern for the incident. I usually just shut my mouth but this had to be said, enough is enough and bullies like Ike should be dealt with and not ignored. This is how lawsuits start. A grown adult assaulted a child and goodwill just turns their back. If this is what happens there now, I don’t feel safe bringing my elderly mother...
Read more1/24/15: My family and I went to the Goodwill on a rainy Saturday morning. They had half off toys which was perfect we were there for toys for my 8 month old son. The workers on the floor were amazing! Gave us a screwdriver and test batteries for the toys we were looking at purchasing. Very nice, helpful, and held a conversation with us. When going to the register ONE girl in general was EXTREMLY RUDE!!! Having a totally inappropriate conversation with another worker while ringing up the lady in front of me. We had 2 carts, one for the baby seat and one for our items. When she saw our carts she very loudly says OHHHH MYY GODDDDDD! because she thought we had 2 cartfuls of stuff. I found this to be very distasteful, and I am not sure how she is able to keep her job with such horrible manners. I asked her if she would like the other lady to ring us up, twice, and she never responded so I took my things to Ester, who was amazing and saw how upset I was and gave me a discount and reported this behavior to the manager. Although that was thoughtful of her, I still felt the need to write this review. There are too many people looking for and needing jobs for someone with the lack of basic manners to be working and receiving a paycheck. In the end, she got what was coming to her, because all the other customers thought we had 2 cartfuls as well and she had a line of 4 or more by the time we left. I don't understand why someone would be so lazy as to come to work to DO NOTHING. You are there, You are getting paid, your time will pass faster if you just work while your there. And if you don't like your job or you don't feel like your getting paid enough then maybe YOU, miss, maam..... should have made better choices in your life. But you are settled to working at the goodwill, and sad to say you are...
