Steated quickly at lunch with great service. Tacos de Carnitas (pork) in corn tortillas is pictured and a large Sopapillas. The price is great and atmosphere was bright but also allowed for a bit of seclusion with the booth seating. Live plants were also nice to see and the lighting was decorative.
The food was awesome. Right after seating warm tortillas chips and salsa were served. The salsa was mild but more heat sensitive persons should know there is a warmth that builds up after, not offensive heat. Very tasty and smooth.
Tacos, the pork was seasoned but not overpowering to let it shine with the toppings of the tacos. The cilantro was very fresh and very good! The hot sauce was fantastic, I would have loved more of it, I used the salsa that was served with the chips. It was the perfect amount of food for myself.
The sopapilla was very flavorful and well seasoned. A large is a great portion if you're very hungry. The dough is more like a pastry texture, which was tasty, slight buttery flavor. Overall very satisfying and filling. The sour scream is very flavorful and a nice contrast to the weight of the meat.
I highly recommend this place for some great Mexican. Awesome portion sizes and a good price point. The atmosphere is good inside, enough that I would happily return, possibly try the bar. The servers were very nice, check on us just the right amount, and were aware when they were needed. Look forward to trying more, there is an extensive menu which they also provide...
Read moreFirst time there and NOT IMPRESSED AT ALL! Don't bother with this place, there are so many other good Mexican restaurants that will take great care of you. So, we had a group of 12 on a Sunday and they did get us seated about five minutes after arriving, but it went down hill from there. We waited about 10 minutes for our drink order to be taken. Initially we got chips and salsa, but had to fight like crazy to get those refilled, even then we got chips and one person was lucky to get more salsa. When we finally got our food order in we waited about 45 or so minutes to finally get our food. I ordered a fajita which very disappointingly came out luke warm with NO sizzle, in half a hollowed out pineapple; not on a skillet sizzling like it should have. Even the rice and refried beans were only luke warm, heck the plates were almost room temperature. I dare not complain and have to wait longer to get hot food! The wait staff was not attentive and refills went unnoticed, we were forced to try and grab someones attention to get them. All in all the decor in Tlaquepaque is nice, the layout is okay, but the food and staff need a major improvement. They won't be serving me again. I personally don't ever remember being in a Mexican restaurant and having to wait very long for food to come out like we did here. PS. Just thought I'd share, while I was checking out I heard another customer complain that they too had to wait a very long time to get their food, so it...
Read moreLast night I met my cousin here for dinner I had my two 6 year olds and she had her 3 boys under the age of 8. We walked in at 7:15 was told there is a 30-45 min wait I said that’s fine grabbed the buzzer and stepped outside to wait bc it was packed. 30 min pass by and we walked back in to sit down in the waiting area. As 45 min passed, another big party walked in. She spoke with the hostess and they also waited. After 1 hour and 15 minutes of waiting a big table began leaving and the waitress came over to the bigger party and said “ we’re just clearing off your table” I immediately spoke up and said excuse me we’ve been here for 1 hour 15 mins and we were here first. She said there is plenty of tables! THEN WHY ARE WE ALL STANDING HERE?! Make it make sense lady. Oh and this was all because the family was friends with said waitress. Snickering and laughing at me because I stood up for my family. And HUNGRY children. I lost all respect for the employees and this establishment last night. I’ve been coming here since the day they opened and I am disgusted that we were treated this way. Remember, closed mouths don’t get fed. Do not let these folks bully you by portraying favoritism. Speak up and...
