I have been very frustrated by my experience with this EOS Fitness. I was asked if I'd like to come in and get a tour and free 7 day trial pass. I said yes and made the appointment. When I went in, I was told I could only do a 3-5 day trial since I live out of state and I would have to pay $0.25 for the trial, then the membership would start after the trial is over. Chase also told me about the option of having a membership on hold which I was interested in since I'm in town often but don't live there full-time, though I decided to see how things went first. He also told me that the weekends didn't count towards the trial, which worked well because I started on a Friday. I went to a few of the group workout classes and enjoyed them, though they were more crowded than I was used to. I decided to cancel my membership (or rather, not start it) and try out other places and then decide if I wanted to do their on-hold membership to use while I'm in town. I texted Chase on the 5th day letting him know. He had been very helpful up to this point and texted me info and such. He didn't respond so I went in the next day to talk to him. While waiting, the lady at the front desk informed me that the trial for out of state members was only 3 days and the "3-5" days was referring to CA having 5 days but every other state was 3. I was annoyed that Chase hadn't told me this and had always said 3-5 and had even mentioned that I'd have to cancel by a specific day (the day I did cancel) which was the 5th day. When I talked to him, he said he could cancel my membership, but I'd have to pay for the first month. I agreed but asked if I could get the yearly fee waived since I was only there for one week. He said yes and that he would work on that. I left town (end of January) and texted him to check on the fee being waived a couple times but never got any response. I should have been more persistent, but forgot about it until I recently got a $93 charge for my yearly EOS membership. I called Chase and he said he had submitted a ticket but it had been denied so I needed to call ABC Financial and get it reimbursed because there was nothing else he could do. I called them and they said that my membership was not cancelled yet (what?!) and went ahead and canceled it for me then (so apparently I have to pay 2 months of membership now?) and that they could not reimburse my fee without authorization. So I called Chase back but still haven't heard back. Everytime I call for him, I leave a message and the people at the front desk give him my info to call me back but I have never gotten called back. So I have to keep calling at different times to try and catch him when he's there and free which has also been frustrating. Anyway, I went to the gym for one week and now owe either around $125-160ish (depending on if I have to pay 2 months of classes or just one) and have to continuously call, wait, and call other people to try and figure out a way to get some of my money back. I think the teachers were great at this gym, but overall I would strongly advise against trying the free trial, especially if you are from out of state and just wanting somewhere to work out...
Read moreAt one point in time, I enjoyed this club. It was my go to gym in the mornings when I didn't need child care. That changed quickly when 2 things took place. They changed management of the club. Brent was great. He interacted with the members and the staff just seemed happy. Every time we came in the staff was always super helpful. Then they moved Brent to another location and brought in a new guy. There was an immediate difference in the atmosphere of the club. The first time I interacted with the new manager he completely blew me off. I mentioned to him that several members of our staff (we had a corporate account) had tried to sign up at other clubs and he literally shrugged his shoulders and said "Well why don't you just bring them in with you and help them sign up. I can't control what the other locations do." Then he walked away to go take someone on tour of the gym. He obviously gets paid on new memberships and not whether he keeps the existing ones they have.
The Corporate Office royally screwed up our Corporate Account. They had a big poster in the lobby for months telling people that if they referred 10 people to the gym they would get 3 months for free. So I offered to invite them out to our office (we have nearly 1000 employees) and sign people up. They came out and signed up 7 people on the spot. I then sent out emails to the entire site and over the next 3 months nearly 30 people came into the various locations and enrolled. Since EOS didn't do a very good job of letting the other locations know that our company was offered a Corporate discount our employees constantly were given different prices by all the clubs as they came in. There was no consistency in pricing. When we went around the office we were able to determine that at least 29 people signed up at EOS because of the onsite and the emails I sent out. I watched the management fill out a form individually listing a minimum of 10 people that enrolled as referrals of mine. It's been 6 months and still to this day we have never received credit for referring anyone. When I call the billing office I received an email from the District Manager that I had to fill out a form listing the people that I referred. So I filled it out again. Still nothing.
I went to cancel our membership today and was informed that we also have a cancellation fee of $15. Nice. Not only do we not get credit for any of the 29 people we referred but they add insult to injury and charge us a fee to cancel. I obtained a list of all 29 people that enrolled. Rather then provided those names to EOS yet again in hopes that they back date the free months, I am simply going to take them to Small Claims court for the months we did not get for referring our office, the fees for Small Claims court, any wages I have to lose in order to go through this small claims process, plus all the time I have spent dealing with this horrible process. Thanks EOS and Ben for taking a completely happy customer who referred 29 people to you and turning me into an extremely unhappy customer who is resorting to small claims court to get you to honor your...
Read moreHorrible staff, horrible company, horrible business practices. I’m warning you all now, DO NOT SIGN ANY CONTRACT WITH EOS. They are scam artists and their business strategy is to lock you into contracts with no way out. You either pay them what they want, or they send you to collections.
So the first issue is their staff. The manager was extremely rude, condescending, and speaks to you like you’re a child while giving you nothing but contempt.
For some context, I signed up for a simple silver plan. I knew there were going to be a lot of sign up fees and the annual fee along with the monthly of $23, so that was fine.
The employees are trained to scam you. I imagine they make commission off of personal trainer contracts, so they use every tactic in the book to con you - including straight up lying.
One man said I would only be charged $19 for personal training, then after 2 weeks I could decide if I want to continue or not. I did not want to continue. I called to have my appointments cancelled, thinking that would be it.
Didn’t think much of it until I was suddenly charged $76. When I called to ask about it, the girl on the phone said she would request a refund for me. I waited 2 weeks and then I was charged ANOTHER $76.
This time I went to the gym and spoke to a manager about it because that’s $150 stolen from me. Unfortunately I can’t remember his name, but I certainly remember how he spoke to me. His belittling attitude was appalling.
All I wanted to do was ask if he could help me, and I would have been fine with a simple “no.” But he lectured me for 20 minutes straight about what a contract is and how you have an obligation to your contract. Then he belittled me about my body, my knowledge of fitness, and the entire time was so rude about it that I had to try extra hard to keep myself calm.
I never even really got a word in. I didn’t give him any attitude, I didn’t raise my voice, I didn’t even criticize him or his gym (which I should have). All I asked was if there was anything that could be done to stop the contract and the payments from coming out. But instead I wasted 20 minutes of my life being scolded and lectured like I were a young child.
I will not be doing any business with EoS, and I’ve told all my connections to switch to another gym ASAP. If not to save your wallet and credit score, then to save your...
