Carolina Village — Local services in Hendersonville

Off the record of course, you could ask any employee or resident how things are now compared to just 4-5 years ago and the answer you'd get is: not good While there are still some exceptional staff members here, there are more that are so far below the bar that one truly worries if they are competent and morally decent enough to be caring for our loved ones. Reports of injustice and unacceptable behaviors, situations, and actions get swept under the radar while some people in positions of power, use that position to cause even further damage. The amazing reputation that this community worked so hard for and deserved to have a few years ago is literally crumbling with every negative, careless, pompous, and self serving action of the main administrative staff responsible for employees and day to day operations. Let me stop to clarify by administration I am referring to the administrator, nursing directors, staff development coordinators, and a few others who are simply not in any position to oppose. These people make choices constantly that are devaluing the quality of this community. They harass,demote,depreciate, and get rid of any staff trying to improve things if they oppose or disagree with their way of doing it. They keep staff who have numerous complaints, some even borderline abuse claims, and allow these people to bully others. I am truly saddened at what has become of this facility and can only pray for the sweet folks still living there that those exceptional staff members can provide and protect. I sincerely hope the board members of Carolina village will work together to eliminate the negative power players that are slowly ruining their life's work. I went to Carolina Village's "Skilled Nursing Facility" on Dec. 5, 2014 for rehab of a "full knee replacement" done locally at Pardee Hospital by Dr. Lily. In summary, the operation was a success, and the treatment by Carolina Village was excellent. I was impressed by the "round the clock" professional staff who were attentive to all of my needs, spoiled me actually. The facility was clean, and the food was good. You are given a wide choice of a wholesome daily menu and they catered to my diabetes. The rehab therapy was thorough and excellent which I continued as an out patient. I must honestly say that we are amazed at the wonderful, extraordinarily loving support and care that Carolina Village has given to my mother over the last 10 years. Starting with a peaceful and lovely apartment where she lived for many years (with a new husband whom she met at Carolina Village), then graduating to assisted living, and finally to the medical center and long term care, this facility has made her journey one of a new life, filled with hope and kindness every single day.
