First off, what is Vessel? Kind of funny writing a review for a cool little shop I can't quite put my finger on. To me, Vessel is a mom-and-pop retail shop that sells rare, organic wares, like jewelry or lamps, basically everything including the kitchen sink! No joke, they sold sinks there at some point.
The thing I really like about them is just that. They have a revolving, almost seasonal, inventory and most of what they sell is made by local artisans, but curated to fit a specific style, (Tactile and born of the earth.)
Pros I've really noticed include what I said above, (I think it's important to support local.) A BIG one is everything has a price tag! You're never guessing if you can afford something, you can go in with a budget and not have a sales person follow you around giving you anxiety, although, here you may want to, which brings me to the next pro: the staff. The staff are Vessel are unique, haha. They are the apex of who you want selling you anything, for they are just people like you and me. They understand social ques, if you don't wanna be bothered they get it, if you need help, they'll notice before you do. I think it may come from just being interesting people selling interesting things, which has to be difficult because they have core knowledge of what everything is in their revolving stock, they know where it comes from, who made it, everything. If only Vessel had sold me my house I would've been so much more prepared. Another thing of note is that they stand by what they sell. Like I said, a lot of what they sell is hand made and unique and if something is ever wrong, if they can't get in touch with the original vendor for any reason they will work with other local businesses to get something repaired or up to standard at no cost to you, at least thats been my experience with a couple pieces of jewelry. Seeing someone go so far out of their way to make sure you get what you want is crazy. One of the girls ran up the street to get one of the jewelers to tighten a stone in a ring, now if that's not customer service ... I think the only con I can think of is if you like something and you don't get it right away, it probably won't be there for long. Their inventory comes and goes and there's always something new. I think that covers most of what I know about Vessel. I hope you fall in love with this weird little...
Read moreReally a nice store, however, I asked an employee if I could look at something in a display case. I was with my son and as she was walking over my son was showing me ivory on a knife. I wanted to look at a black coin pendant with gold trim around it. She never even let me tell her what I wanted to look at, and immediately told my son that he couldn’t buy knife. I told her I wasn’t even trying to look at a knife that I wanted to look at this coin. She was very confrontational, and the manager of the store had to come over and assist me. As she was assisting me, the lady came back over and stood right across for me and told me that I needed to calm down and and “I’m just correcting you”.
I asked the manager who is now assisting me why is she still standing here telling me that I need to be corrected??? This employee was so out of line. Finally, she made the employee stuff away and then I looked at what I was trying to purchase. I was so ready to buy it, but I told them there was bad energy on it and I didn’t wanna own some thing like that. unfortunately. I really wanted it, but couldn’t bring myself to buy some thing after such a nasty experience. I’ve been coming to Hendersonville for over 20 years. We own several properties here. We are regulars and I am so turned off with this experience… If the store owner is reading this, please review your cameras from June 17th 2023 at 5:15pm. I hope there’s sound on your cameras you’ll see how the whole situation was handled and it’s not a good look ...
Read moreSeeing as I'm back from traveling, I can tell yall about this gem. Came here on 6 April 24. Totally wasn't expecting this store while passing through the area. I enjoy collecting the occasional oddities, so imagine my surprise when I walk in and see fossils! What really caught my eye were some earrings. Fossilized walrus ivory at that. To say I was enthralled would be an understatement. Many thanks to Candice for showing me what all was to offer, she was knowledgeable about everything I had questions on and more. If you're ever in the area, I'd highly recommend stopping in. Take a look, guarantee something will catch your eye.
Update Was planning a return visit and heard the most unfortunate news that just left a sour taste in my mouth. I understand certain business aspects, but when one is willing to work with a shop to accommodate needs through a rough transition in life to just be thrown to the wayside. It doesn't sit right with me. What happened to...
