Iâm not one to usually leave reviews on places or establishments because itâs usually not that serious to me, but this happened this past Saturday and Iâm still very heated about the whole experience. My male fiancĂ© and I decided to go shopping in Hickory mall and we had just left the American eagle and weâre headed to the Dillards and had already found a sweater that we were planning on buying and as we kept looking around, we found a black dress in the Calvin Klein section that he really liked and wanted me to try on. We finally found a dressing room and there was a girl at the register a few feet away. I asked her if I could go ahead and go in. She said that was fine and there are seats outside the dressing areas however, since I was only trying on one dress, and it just says generic fitting area I asked my fiancĂ© to come into the dressing room with me so he could help me zip up the back of it because it was a zipper that went all the way to the back of the neck and if youâve ever put on a dress before you understand itâs hard to do it by yourself. Shortly after my once again, male fiancĂ© entered the dressing room that was not labeled by the way. I had enough time to take my top off, and was completely topless when an male employee, possibly a manager Iâm not sure started screaming at my fiancĂ© that he needed to get out of the dressing room because it was a womenâs dressing room and he could not be in there. I completely understand that stores may have policies that the customers may not be aware of, however there was a better way to go about it. He was very aggressive for no reason, and I had to take a moment and sit in the dressing room alone, and calm myself down because of how aggressive this man was. He was yelling like he had caught a bunch of teenagers doing something illegal rather than two adults just trying on some clothes. We ended up leaving we didnât buy anything because we were both so upset by this personâs reaction and even the girl who had told me to go into the dressing room a few feet away even apologize to my fiancĂ© and said she was not aware that that was a rule. So clearly their training program is not store wide, or this man was on a power trip, and if these dressing rooms need to be male versus female for safety purposes, it needs to state it on the actual wall or ceiling or somewhere so that people are aware, considering that it took us a good minute to even find an associate to let us into a dressing room, because the whole place look like a ghost town. I have no intentions of spending my money there anymore and Iâm not sure what the employee/managerâs name was but I do know that he was a taller older white man with sandy brown hair and he has a higher pitched voice and was working Saturday afternoon probably around 2:30-3:30pm in the up stairs part. I donât know if Dillards has just gone downhill so bad that they need to hire just anybody that will walk through the door but as somebody who has worked in customer service her entire adult life as well as management if it wouldâve been my employee, he wouldâve immediately been reprimanded, and I truly think he shouldnât have a job working for customer service if his immediate reaction is to...
Read moreDillards might just have the single worst return policy that there is. I recently purchased an item âthat item being a polo hooded zip up sweatshirtâ. When I got it home and tried it on I found that it was just a little too big and didnât feel it would shrink properly. When I returned it with the jacket in a bag from Dillards with a receipt I was told I could not return this jacket because it didnât have Dillards hang tag with the barcode on it. I instructed the assistant store manager that I paid $54 for the jacket and the receipt indicated the $54 pretty simple, oh no he said without the hangtag we cannot give you your money back. Now folks I live 25 miles from the nearest Dillards. When I tried the jacket on I removed the hang tag. Thinking nothing of it because I was never told that I needed that tag it didnât occur to me to make sure the tag was on the garment. Now I have to drive back to Dillards! I did find the hang tag thank God, to get my money back. This is all because the store manager would not go back to the shelf where the other jackets are to get the proper barcode. It is no wonder why the big chain stores such as Sears Montgomery Ward and soon I hope Dillardâs have all folded. The moral to this story is the customer is always right. If thereâs a question see Rule number one. Dillards should modernize their receipts like Walmart. If you have a Walmart app the product you are returning is on that app. Amazon, McDonaldâs, Chick-fil-A. They all have a policy donât squabble over the small stuff. Enough problems with small stuff can bring you...
Read moreI went in specifically to find a pair of leather shoes for work. The sales associate, Tonya Melton, was with another customer but still cheerfully greeted me. The moment that she left the other customer, she was right at my side. She was very professional and knowledgeable, bringing out what I wanted to try on. She never made me feel like I was inconveniencing her! She was âat my serviceâ. I really appreciate receiving great customer service! It is a rarity these days! I hope she is treated as the valuable employee she truly is! She has provided service to me in the past and was treated just as well, even when I didnât make a purchase! Dillardâs is my first choice to look for shoes, and I must say that Tonya Melton is a big part of...
