Shimazu!!!! Didnt know about this location (i grew up going to the school st location) so decided to check it out with my kiddos after a sweaty day of running errands and cleaning house. We normally go to Waiola Shave ice but thought weâd try something new. Turned out to be the perfect thing to cool off and get our sweet tooth fix. My 6YO got a kids size and my 12YO and I each got a small. None of us finished our orders because it was MASSIVE. Not a bad thing and we were down for the challenge to try. Lol Be sure to get napkins, it can get messy. We also got mochi balls (the normal mochi balls that they scoop from the water, not the mini mochi that some shave ice places have that has powder on it) and condensed milk. #Scrumptious We sat in the seating area with other ohana, it was a small seating area with 5ish tables with 2-3 seats each, a party of 3-4 is maxed out. We demolished what we could and eventually we each gave up die to being so full. 1-kids size, 2-small size. All with mochi and 2 with condensed milk came out to a lil over $26. Weâll be back again for sure.
Cons: small parking area (only 6 or so stalls and limited street parking) price (a tad bit more expensive than other shave ice locations) small indoor seating area
Pros: -MASSIVE amounts (the small was a full meal for me) flavors, super ono flavors and so many to choose from. perfect to cool off on any HawaiĘťi day. customer service, very kind and welcoming. cozy but comfortable seating area to escape the heat. -offered other goodies in the same location like lins crack seed (weâll check out more...
Read moreOk. Here is out story. First time we came here a day ago and found out that it is CASH ONLY!!! Well very disappointing when you up to the sweets and no cash on you :( especially nowadays, when everything is computerized!!!! Second trip: Time 6:25 pm. Closing time 7:00pm. We came inside and take a place at the end of the line. About 7 more people came after us. NO ONE SAID ANYTHING !!!! As far as we get closer to the counter after about 5 minutes, the employee( a guy) said that one guy just two people ahead of us is going to be the last one. Everyone two people infrount of us and 7 behind just quietly left the store with no questions, actually same as us. Just when we went out and sat in the car I've realised that it is only 6:31. So I went back to the store and asked him again, why is he closing the register if it us only 6:31pm? The guy replied that he is running out of the iceđ˛đ˛đ˛. I understood it might be a real situation, but. Why is he is not informing anyone coming into the line??? Why not just simply ask the last person to share it with others walking in???? When saying that he will not taking anyone anymore, not e plaining that he is running iut of the ice and the most important what alwYs works with the customers: JUST SAY SORRY!!!! Sorry for the owner to have those employees!!! I am living here and were so excited to find this place, but after receiving this experience NO WAY OF COMING BACK HERE. You could rely on the tourist, but peolle living here spread the word very fast, and it is not a good...

Here it can be a little tricky. located in "Hawaii's Favorite Kitchen" building only has 8 stalls usually "always" busy no seating Cash Only
And now creating your Shave Ice will be fun! They have a huge variety of flavors to choose from and best part you can get up to 3 max! This time around, the boys chose Sour Limeade, Orange Creme, & Vanilla Creme drizzled with Creamy Haupia and a scoop of vanilla inside.
The Shave Ice size is very generous. We ordered the "Small Size" and let me say, it was just right for 2 adults and a toddler! The ice itself has a texture of light fluffiness. That adds a different experience while eating this delightful shave ice combo! Worth the price on a hot sunny day!
Shimazu Shave Ice is on the top of our list for Favorite Shave Ice on island! Now that my son discovered Shave Ice, we'll frequent when we're in the area and very much need a...
