This is my 3rd rental at Enterprises' Kapiolani location. Excellent service. Staff was very friendly and handled the processing of paperwork in a timely and efficient manner. Requested pick-up and drop-off rides at and return to the Hawaii Convention Bureau area as Enterprise (Honolulu) is not allowed to go into Waikiki for pick-ups and drop-offs.
Having said the above here are 3 x negatives ...
#1 ... I somewhat understand the logic about 'territorial rights' between Enterprise Honolulu vs Enterprise Waikiki due to lower rental rates from Enterprise Honolulu locations ... BUT ... why, from a customer's perspective, is the customer put in the middle of their 'Territorial' conflict which does not allow an Enterprise staff from an Enterprise Honolulu location to pick up and drop off a customer at a Waikiki location ? Not 'customer friendly' in the least. I had to walk about 1 mile to get to the Hawaii Convention Bureau from my Condo in Waikiki to be picked up and subsequently dropped off.
2 ... The staff picking me up at the Hawaii Convention Bureau 'got it wrong' as to where I was standing in front of the building. I was very, very, very specific as to where I would be standing. He pulled up and waited on a corner that had no connection to where I was standing (waiting for him for the pick-up) - my directions to the staff at the Enterprise desk obviously did not get relayed to the driver as to the 'exact' location where I would be standing. This resulted in a waste of time of well over 20 minutes. This is the second time that has happened to me with this staff. It is an issue about the desk staff not giving the driver the 'exact' location of the pick-up
#3 ... The windows, both inside and out, where not cleaned or if cleaned had a significant smudge left on them. It was especially difficult to see as the sun was shining brightly through the windshield and I had to stop and use my hankerchief to wipe off the haze film to see properly. As I looked in my back mirror, saw the same haze film coated on the back window. Other than that, the car was very clean. One more negative to add on to was that I was given a car with a gas tank 1/2 full ??? Why would they not give you a car with a full tank to start off with ??? Puts the customer in an immediate position to have to stop at a gas station and fill up with gas. Good customer service would dictate to rent a car with a 'full tank of gas'
Note: Regardless of the negatives as per above, I plan on renting this next weekend from that same Enterprise location and one cannot beat the price, the $ 9.99 'Weekend...
Read moreRented a car from this location on one of the days my mum and I were in Oahu. They wouldn’t pick us up from our hotel (Hilton Hawaiian Villages) or anywhere in the Waikiki area because there is another Enterprise that services the Waikiki area. Unfortunately, renting a compact car from that Enterprise would cost $20 more for the day so my mum and I ended up walking to this one instead (should have taken the bus instead -_-).
Located in a small office on the bottom floor of a large office building with several stores, this Enterprise was very easy to find. I called when they opened at 7:30AM and asked if they had a compact car available and they did, which was great. The process for renting a car here was very quick and soon I was on my way up with an employee to the top floor of the garage where they keep their rental cars. We got a Honda Civic and were quickly on our way to explore the island.
When you rent a car here, you get it for 24 hours. Since we picked up our car around 8:30AM, they said we just needed to return the car the following day before 8:30AM (with the gas tank appropriately full of course). However, since our hotel charges a ridiculous amount of money for overnight parking, we wanted to return the car the same day. The one negative point about this Enterprise is that they do not do late returns. So if you are doing a same day return you must return it before they closed (6PM). To be safe, they suggest coming back by 5:30PM. We were really paranoid about traffic (Honolulu has the 2nd worst traffic in America, just behind Los Angeles!) so we ended up coming back with plenty of time to spare :P
To return the car, just pull into the garage, take a parking ticket, and drive all the way up to the top floor. Then just return the key to the Enterprise employee there and take the elevator back down to the bottom floor to check out in the office. And that's it! My experience here was very smooth and the service was great so I would definitely rent from them again if...
Read morePay Attention if you don´t have a US mobile phone number! We made an online reservation for a Jeep Wrangler. When we arrived in the branch, they told us the car is at the moment not starting. Then they fixed it and said somebody just had not turned off the light. So we thought it was okay now. We drove from Honolulu to the Northshore and wanted to make a short rest (about 1 hour) there before driving to our final destination. Unfortunately the car was not starting anymore when we tried. We had also booked "optional roadside assistance protection" and called the company. It was 17 minutes after the have closed their branch (5:47) and we had to talk to the enterprise service center from outside Hawaii. They told us they will send roadside assistance and it will come in about 1 hour. So we waited 2 hours and nothing happend. Nobody called us or came over. So we called again that service number and had to explain everything to another person. Then he said again someone will come. We waited. More than 1 hour. Nobody came. Then someone from Tripple A (their service provider) called us. We had to call them back. The person from Tripple A said that there is no service provided in this area. He said we should take a Taxi and let the car where it is. Then it was 10:13 in the night. So we waited about 5 hours for nothing but costs. The next morning we called the branch again. Someone told us they are not able to call international numbers (we are from Austria) at all. Nobody told us before. So the roadside assistance protection is not available if you have no US telephone number. After 4 calls with many minutes in a queue we got picked up by a towing vehicle (not from Tripple A). The last call with Enterprise was that they want the first day rent payed from us. So you better need a US mobile phone number if you want to rent a car by...
