I booked a lesson with Mark from Blue Planet Surf. I was also intending to rent two boards from the shop for my daughter and her friend. The night before the lesson I realized that the shop opened after the start of the lesson. I sent a text to Mark the night before the lesson to ask to delay the start of the lesson by 45 minutes so that I could pick up the boards. He was very accommodating. He even met me and my family at the shop to help us with the boards. There was some confusion at the shop and when we were finally ready for the lesson, we were one SUP board short. Mark went back to the shop to pick up another board. He then preceded to give me the full 90 minute time of the lesson, despite the fact that it started 90 minutes after the original scheduled time.

The lesson was very helpful and I really appreciate the instruction provided by Mark. He quickly advanced through those skills that I was already able to do. I made progress and I now have new skills to work on.

My daughter and her friend had a great time with the boards and I received a great lesson. It very easily could have turned out differently but Mark and Blue Planet Surf really went beyond what should be expected to correct my mistake.

The shop is conveniently located near Ala Moana Beach Park, which is a very good place to paddleboard. They provide all of the equipment to strap the boards onto the car. We were driving a Volkswagon Jetta and we had no problem getting 3 boards on the car.

The quality of the boards are excellent. The staff are friendly and professional. The next time that I am in Oahu, I know where I am renting...

Been planning to buy a stand up paddle board for a while and ran into Tony during their costco promotion this week. As am a beginner Tony gave a lot of pointers on the weight of the different boards and heights and am glad that I checked out their headquarters shop on ward.

The boards are well made with gorgeous local designs and I ended up trialing the lighter weight versions which were a bit pricier but easier on my Tyrannosaurus arms to carry em.

Tony was kind in letting me try out two boards: the 10-2 easy and the 9-4 fun stick. He got me all set up with the right paddle and help me load it on to my car and off I went on a paddle board adventure at Ala Moana to figure which board was right for me. Ended up purchasing the 9-4 fun stick (shorter, more maneuverable, wider for better balance for short clumsy self). The personalized attention from Tony was great and they were so accommodating and even recommended a great lunch place (Earl sandwich which now has two locations). The deal was really good for the board (includes lightweight paddle, strap and bag) and the upgrade selections were totally worth it to protect the board and paddle! They even offered to let me borrow the rack for transport of my board back home.

Similarly to when I borrowed the boards the team loaded up my brand spanking new purchase on to my car and off I went--home to enjoy a great new paddle board! Can't wait to get it out on the water. If I have any problems at any time they reassured me that I could bring the board back for repairs and help.

Today’s the day that my SUP search ended! Thanks to Tony for his knowledge, expertise, and being truly passionate about what he does! Mike and Tony were welcoming when my family showed up in the shop and the outstanding customer service we received was what sealed the deal for us. I had an idea of what I wanted, but wasn’t sure exactly what I needed. Thankfully Tony had an answer to all of my questions and I was able to confidently purchase a board today! The rental program here is one of the best we’ve seen, you can put your rental amounts towards a future board purchase. We didn’t utilize the rental option, as we were very confident in Tony’s recommendation, and just decided to go with the purchase! I’m so glad we did! (Got the board on the water just before the sun set and it’s exactly what my soul needed!) This was the best experience we’ve had- we could tell that Tony wasn’t trying to push us into a sale, he cared about our needs and ensuring we were getting exactly what we were looking for. The vibe of this shop is amazing and they even let our 5 year old chill in the hammock while we finished up our sale. Everyone with a blue planet board we’ve talked to has raved about the service and how much they loved their board, and we were not disappointed! I will recommend this shop every time!
