This is a late response from a hair appointment I had back in December (2023) while vising family on O'ahu. I booked my appointment with Yama and without exaggerating, it was one of the best experiences I've had at a hairdresser. From the moment I stepped into the salon (even calling to book my appointment, which whomever the young woman I spoke with made it easy and was able to accommodate me merely three days later), Yama and the rest of the M-IRROR Salon team treated me with utmost grace and propriety. Yama, as a stylist, is a rarity because he truly seems to have a passion for his craft; and even before he touched a single product or tool, he spent at least 5 minutes analyzing my hair and pointing out flaws I hadn't even noticed from my last stylist. Afterwards, Yama spent the next 2 - 3 hours working his "magic" on my hair and gave me one of the best layered cuts ever (I'd even say the cut and color looks even better almost 2 months after). I say "magic" lightly, because it would be insulting to reduce Yama's years of dedication and skill to mere sorcery. Anyway, I am back in Germany now and wish I had won the lottery so I could buy a ticket to Hawai'i every few months to get my hair done at M-IRROR. I love this salon, and especially stylist, Ai Joy! I saw her portfolio on Instagram several months ago, and went in for my appointment with intentions of getting both keratin treatment and balayage. Ai was very transparent that getting both treatment and coloring in the same session could really dry out my hair. I respected her professional opinion to enjoy my natural hair color, as it was flattering to my complexion, and see how I liked the results of the keratin treatment alone first, and I appreciated that she didn't try to pressure me one way or the other. Keratin treatment turned out great, and made my hair look healthier and shinier. She also gave me the most beautiful layered cut.

I ended up returning after a few months to get balayage from Ai. She took the time to understand the color I was going for, and was descriptive throughout the process, and what to expect once I left the salon. Coloring turned out great, and am so satisfied with the results! Never go here. They rip you off and ruin your hair. I went for the most expensive moisture treatment and they actually dried out my hair and turned it into the frizziest, driest it's EVER been. Horrendous service, they were asking ME how to do a PERM. They don't even know how to do a perm and they're asking a customer, and yet they offer perms on their menu. Find a salon where they know how to do the basics, like moisturise hair in a moisture treatment, not ruin it. My hair is still disgustingly dry and messed up, I have no idea what they did in the supposed intense moisture treatment, but it's as if they put household Bleach on my hair to clean their own hair washing bowls. I'm appalled and angry, never go here and waste the huge expense they'll charge you, and all the money you'll need to go somewhere professional to fix it for weeks and...
