I'm 50%-50% whether or not I will choose this company again for my future snorkeling visit to Hawaii.
Good company, awesome team!
However, I feel like the crews are repeatedly doing the same job daily, so they only go through the instructions pretty briefly in my eyes. On a scale from 1-10 of knowing how to swim with 10 being the most advanced, I would rate myself 2 in the pool, 0 in the ocean. I didn’t even know how to put on a goggle properly or if the tube should be on the right or left, I know I sound too much because this could be easily answered by our common senses, but I wouldn’t feel comfortable with a company assuming that way because I’m the one who would be facing all the risks when the thing does happen. The crew only briefly asked who doesn’t know how to swim by raising our hands which I did without a single hesitation hoping that they would have some additional “instructions”, they only gave us an extra foam to put on the waist, and…that’s it.
It was like arriving at the spot, time to dump the dumplings.
During the snorkeling, I choked myself twice by accidentally dipping my head too much into the water, when I choked, I panicked immediately and there was no way that I could shout loud for help, I had a “figure on my own” moment and I was lucky enough to finally figure it out, I couldn’t imagine if I wasn’t able to figure it out.
Whenever people choke, no matter what kind of water sports, they die without sound, how do they make a sound when they can’t even breathe?
Secondly, they should understand that sometimes if people put on too much foam, (life jacket & foam on the waist) would stop them like myself from turning their face or to a position that I could breathe in.
In a nutshell, I understand nothing could be perfect by accepting customers with varying swimming skill levels, but I hope they could set whoever doesn’t know how to swim aside at the moment they asked to go through every detail. I wouldn’t mind being treated as a moron, because, it’s my own life.
I would greatly appreciate knowing what to do when the water goes over the breathing tube at least. You’re potentially handling some situations that could end up turning into a life-threatening one, understand it is hard to care about the job when doing it repeatedly sometimes,...
Read moreI was disappointed and absolutely DO NOT recommend this snorkel tour. They took us about a mile off of the Waikiki shore to swim with turtles and and fish. Everyone was nice and helpful on the boat. Mildly annoying that Holly thought she was performing for everyone and continue to start songs over and say she knew every word while she flitted about the boat. Once at our location, we were surrounded by three other boats full of people snorkeling, it was really crowded. Once we were in the water, we were instructed To stay 15 feet away from the turtles. Which of course I highly respect and I try to do that while in the ocean. Holly was on a paddleboard Pointing out fish, and if she saw a turtle, she would paddle over and ask us to stay behind her. At one point, she was screaming, it frightened me so badly I thought possibly it was a shark And I popped my head up and looked to see where to swim to safety. She also scared a child next to me who kicked me in the face, while they were also scrambling for safety. Then, the next thing I knew Holly was hitting me in the Head with her paddleboard, I couldn’t see and I was disoriented. Then she tells me there was a turtle nearby and that she would rather hit me in the head with her paddleboard and have me get a $5000 fine. I couldn’t see it, but respectfully, just tried to get out of the way. I understand the rules and respecting the ocean life and did not need to be treated that way. I also don’t really care, but this tour advertised snacks and beverages all we got was water. I have done other snorkel tours before and this is the biggest waste of money Of all the ones I’ve done, I would never recommend this to anyone. It was not relaxing, and it was definitely...
Read moreI recently went on a snorkel tour with Honolulu Snorkel Company, and it was an absolutely incredible experience—hands down a 10 out of 10! From start to finish, everything was perfect, and I couldn’t have asked for a better way to explore the underwater beauty of Oahu.
The crew was amazing—friendly, knowledgeable, and incredibly attentive. They made sure everyone felt comfortable, especially those who were new to snorkeling. They provided all the necessary gear, including snorkels, masks, and life vests, and gave clear instructions on how to use everything. It was clear they were passionate about sharing their love for the ocean and making the experience enjoyable for everyone.
The snorkeling spot was breathtaking. We visited Turtle Canyons, where the water was crystal clear, and the coral reefs were vibrant and full of life. I saw so many colorful fish, and the highlight was definitely swimming alongside sea turtles. It was such a magical moment, and the crew was great at pointing out interesting sights and ensuring everyone got a chance to see them.
The tour lasted about two hours, which was just the right amount of time to feel relaxed yet fully immersed in the adventure. It was the perfect blend of excitement and tranquility, and I felt like I got to see so much in such a short time.
I highly recommend Honolulu Snorkel Company to anyone visiting Honolulu. Whether you’re an experienced snorkeler or a beginner, this tour is perfect for all levels. It’s a must-do activity that will leave you with unforgettable memories of Oahu’s stunning underwater world.
Mahalo (thank you) to the entire team at Honolulu Snorkel Company for making our trip so...
