Royal Hawaiian Catamaran — Local services in Honolulu

I had a great time with Royal Hawaiian Catamaran. I highly recommend booking them! Here was my experience from start to end. We had a snorkel adventure right off the coast of Waikiki.

The weather was mostly sunny with passing showers and a lot of wind. As we arrived we signed in and had our footwear collected in a bin. Once we were on the catamaran we had a safety and itinerary briefing which also explained all the boat amenities. It is byob so you can bring any beverages and food if you like. They provided 2 large coolers filled with ice and the crew members were keen to serve your beverage in their metal cup that they also had on sale (no single-use plastics here !)

Once we set sail, it was what felt like about a 10-15 min ride to the snorkel spot. There was a few other boats in the same area but Royal Hawaii Catamaran was by far the nicest. This area was about 20 feet deep and had lots of colorful fishes. We saw a lot of turtles and even got to see some humpback whales in the distance. The crew members were friendly and also informative on the state regulations regarding the sea-life.

Since there were a lot of passing showers, all the guests on the catamaran took cover inside while the crew members stayed outside to secure the boat. The showers only lasted a few minutes at a time (haha Hawaii weather for you). But when there were no showers, it was nice and sunny. We made sure to take lotttsss of pictures! The water was so blue and the view of Diamond head was spectacular.

They also had some chips and salsa on board for the guests, which was really nice because we forgot to bring snacks.

As some hours passed and we were slowly tiring of all the fun we began to head back. And on our way back we saw MORE WHALES. What a beautiful ending right? How lucky we were to witness their seasonal migration. We got back to the dock right on time, 3:00pm on the dot! Amazing. We packed up all that we brought and our footwear was neatly fashioned along the dock walkway for us to easily wear out. You are given the option to tip the crew members so I added a few dollars in the jar, they deserved it! Wished I had more cash on hand.

All in all, as mentioned earlier, I had a great time with Royal Hawaiian Catamaran! The boat is really stylish and the crew members are friendly, accommodating, and informative. This was our third time sailing with Royal Hawaiian Catamaran and once again, it was PERFECT. Every time we’ve gone out with them, it’s been fun, relaxing, and filled with good vibes—but this last trip might have been the best yet!

The weather and ocean conditions were unreal, crystal clear, calm, and warm. We did the sunset and swim cruise, and when the boat anchored, we jumped into the clearest water we’ve ever seen. You could literally see all the way to the bottom. The crew had snorkels, fins, and floaties for us to use, which made it even more fun. One of the staff members even dove down 30 feet and brought up a starfish to show us!

The crew is what makes this experience truly special. They’re always so friendly, funny, and down to earth. It’s clear they love what they do! Some even mentioned they work on multiple boats, but this is their favorite. That says a lot!

The catamaran itself is a restored classic and absolutely stunning. Super IG-worthy and full of character.

It was BYOB on our trip (not sure if that’s always the case), which made it feel extra relaxed and personal. We watched the sunset with a drink in hand, surrounded by great people and incredible views.

Pro Tip: BOOK NOW. Seriously. Don’t wait. They fill up fast for a reason. This should be your first choice if you’re looking for a catamaran experience.

You MUST book a trip on the Royal Hawaiian Catamaran! This was, by far, my favorite part of my stay in Waikiki. Would recommend to families with kids of any age, couples, or groups of friends. The sailing yacht was gorgeous and clean and the atmosphere was non stop fun. Captain Kalani and his crew were fantastic. The boat ride was smooth as we traveled along the Waikiki coast to a beautiful reef in the most crystal clear water. Grace was such a sweetheart checking in on how everybody was doing and offering us drinks. The view of diamond head was incredible. Some of our party stayed on the deck to tan, some went on floats in the water, but most of us took advantage of snorkeling. Amos guided us to sea turtles and schools of colorful fish. I could never have imagined swimming so closely to two giant sea turtles!! It’s going to be hard to top that experience. I felt super safe the entire time. Amos knew so much about the aquatic life and taught us so much. On the ride back to the marina, we followed a pod of dolphins! They swam right under the catamaran net.
