Fort Lee Commissary — Local services in Hopewell

Prices on meat and chicken are great but the problem I have is customer service. Horrible. I talked to an Asian lady about how I came home and didn’t get an item I purchase, I know I bought it since I used a coupon for this item. This lady was pissing me off saying it was my fault for not checking before I left the store. The baggers was the one who put the many items in my cart, I at least expect them to do their job, I go home and I’m missing one bag. I go back to the commissary and this lady is blaming me for not checking before I leave the store, and telling me I was lying. I was livid. My husband and I doubled checked before I went back to the commissary to make sure it wasn’t in the car or misplaced. It wasn’t. So at the end she said we can’t do anything, I wasn’t able to get a refund on a item I didn’t get even tho I purchase it!!!!! I will definitely not be...

Decent commissary. Fish market is nice and the gentlemen behind the counter are very friendly. Great produce selection in my opinion. The only downfall with this place is the checkout. The self checkout lanes are slow and I always have some kind of issue. As far as the regular checkout, I dislike the fact that I feel some weird moral obligation to tip the bagger. First, I can do it myself. Second, if I don't tip I feel I am being labeled as a stuck up, stingy a- hole. These are my own self developed annoyances that I have developed and I leave you to devlop your own opinions. Bought cookies from the bakery I used to buy often when I lived in Michigan. The bakery is called Leonard’s out of NJ. Chocolate dipped sugar cookie… anyways start eating it and it seemed very stale. Looked at the date on the sticker and it said 3/4/26. These cookies would never last that’s long ! I notice there is another sticker under it , I gently peel, it’s says 3/4/25 !!!!! It’s 6/24/25 !!!! Omg ! I go to Leonard’s website and get the info on shelf life. Room temp cookies last 2-3 weeks on the shelf they said ! Omg how old were these cookies !!!!! There is soooooo much food that is bad in this commissary. I am ashamed. I am officially done shopping here. I’m surprised nobody has actually died by now all the stories...
