When things go wrong after surgery Dr. Dong Kim dismissed you as a patient and wants nothing to do with you. His office staff is horrible. Will not return phone calls and will not let you speak with Dr. Dong Kim. We all trust our surgeons, especially dealing with the brain, and we really need compassion and support when things don't go right. You will not get this with Dr. Dong Kim nor his staff. He does have great bedside manner, soft spoken, and kisses his female patients on the cheek and assure them that everything will be fine. I'm sure he has helped many patients, but in my case he has totally ruined my life. He performed MVD surgeries on me twice and I am now left with uncontrollable painful involuntary movements spinning, twisting and pulling of facial nerve in my mouth, face and it also travel to my head (NONSTOP for almost 3 years now). I've been to so many doctors, neurologists, neurosurgeons, pain management docs and the list goes on and on. No one knows what the heck happened to me, but all concluded it had to do with the MVD surgeries because I did not have this condition before. I even called Mayo Clinic for the past two years and they turned me down for an appointment. I am now disabled and not able to work. (I had a great managerial job with a very big firm). Dr Dong Kim dismissed me as his patient because he said now that it traveled to my head he has nothing to do with that. He also lied on office notes stating I'm fine and happy with my surgery....
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI called in for an appointment with Dr. Kim, at the beginning of December because I was diagnosed with Chiari Malformation I in 2019 and my headaches are continuing to get worse along with other symptoms. His assistant Mercedes told me I had to have a New MRI of the Brain with & Without contrast on 3T settings, which I did & spent $500 doing it, then I waited 2 weeks for her or Stephanie (the PA) to call me back, and they never did. I called several more times, only for Mercedes to call me back TODAY (over a month later) to tell me Dr. Kim is NOT accepting new patients at this time, she thought is was funny as she told me in a nice nasty way, I DO NOT believe that is true, I believe because she has done such a horrible job getting me in along with having me the patient jump through hoops getting what she asked for that, she does not want me to see Dr. Kim and let him know what has gone on, I think Mercedes is making decisions for the doctor that she has no right nor the medical knowledge to do. Dr. Kim is going to continue to receive terrible reviews because of his staff. I plan to call the administration over Hermann Memorial hospital to let them know what has transpired. I no longer desire to seek help from Dr. Kim BECAUSE OF his staff, I can't trust that I will receive the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreDr Kim performed unnecessary pineal gland cyst removal surgery on me, having failed to rule out other causes of my pain (since diagnosed with hypermobile Ehlers Danlos and various related conditions) and told me that it couldnāt hurt to try this surgery. It did. Surgery worsened my postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome and caused me lifelong damage, including not being able to lay flat. Do you know how hard it is to travel when you have to lay at an angle?! Or if I feel faint somewhere, I canāt just go lay on a couch or floor without vomiting now. I have frequent pain in my skull. My hEDS makes it to where I heal poorly and my incision is so thin and painful that I canāt brush my hair or get haircuts without intense pain. My husband has had to learn to cut my hair as best as he can. Dr Kimās office completely wrote me off and refuses to answer my calls or emails. And to top it off, he disgustingly likes to kiss his female patients on the face - which should have made me run for hills but he had convinced me and several others that he was our only hope for help from our pain. If you are considering this surgery, please get a few other opinions and see a rheumatologist as well. This surgery forever...
