The worst medical organization I have ever had encounter with. No aware this is a training hospital. I had back surgery 6/25/25 with their staff. Worst mistake I could have ever done. You sign your consent form with the business office. No one explains the risk and benefits of the surgery. I’m expecting when I see the surgeon EVERY THING would be explained NOT. They whiz me to surgery I never saw the surgeon in the operating room. I’m not sure if the surgeon did my surgery or a resident. My staples looked like a kindergarten did them. At my post op I had to asked who did my surgery she said she did but what do I know I was sleep. They removed my drains to soon they tell me they were coming out so they had to remove them. I continued to ask to see my surgeon and the resident continued to respond that he was part of the team. Needless to say I never got a chance to talk to my surgeon while I was in the hospital. A resident wanted to look at the incision site and said I was leaking fluid, he removed staples and placed horrible sutures again looking like a kindergartners work. I went though that whole ordeal 4 times which was extremely painful. After 4 times I told him he was not going to touch. Me one more time. After 4 days in the hospital I was discharged. After about 2 days post op I started leaking blood/fluid from the incision. I call 911 unaware what this fluid is they take me to ER they give me a external drain once it was full of fluid it falls off. Two days later the fluid was leaking so much it left trails on the floor. Cal 911 again off to ER again. Dr sutures the gaps and holes I had inbetween the horrible staple job I had. Okay now no more leaking but now a pocket of fluid accumulates in my back. I had it drained 3 times and it continues to come back. I ask if there is anything else we could do to stop this now they say just leave it along maybe it will absorb back into my body. My right foot is numb now which I did not have before surgery. One resident said it had nothing to do with the surgery. Now I am told it has to do with the nerves and it could take up to 1 year to resolve or not resolve at all. The information that I get from UT health is like pulling teeth if you don’t ask a lot of questions they will not offer information. Lack of communication and knowledge from the team that has been treating me is my major complaint. Now I get a authorization from my insurance company about a spinal bone growth stimulator that no one ever mentioned to me about. After calling my insurance company (I’m thing this was possible for another patient) the nurse practitioner tells me that the information was at the bottom of my instruction sheet. Come to find out they gave me the wrong instruction sheet. My personal experience is I am NOT happy with the service I receive from UT health. Good Luck if you decide to use their services. Returning phone calls from their Porto sucks too. The problem is no one is trying to make this whole ordeal right. Remember a TRAINING HOSPITAL that I was...
Read moreI’m a patient that would be coming from out of town (5hours south) and I was told that UT neuroscience would be able to help me in our urgency. I called on 08/22/24 and sent in our referral. First person I spoke to took insurance information, date of birth, address, all the information to make a profile. I was told to give the staff 24 hrs to call back, so when they didn’t I called them on Friday. They hadn’t gotten to the referral so I waited the weekend and called twice on Monday. Now Monday was 08/26/24 and they took down some extra notes. I was told I would get a call back that afternoon and there was no call. I called back today 08/27/24 and they told me I had just called Monday so I’d need to be patient to get a call back because it takes a while. I was being gaslit to think that since i had only called the day prior I need to give them time to process the request. I Had to tell them that the information I had sent and fax both had the date I sent them in, so they had to know that my calls were placed since the 22nd and the notes from our pcp says it’s urgent. The receptionist then again tells me in a condescending way, “Since you just called yesterday, Monday…I can’t tell if you called on Thursday or not.” Again, trying to gaslight me into agreeing that I had just called. I expressed my concern that she was calling me a liar and undermining me in many ways. She then changed her tone when I said I would just be going to a different doctor. The situation was just so strange to me. If they’re treating me like this as a new patient, first impressions matter!! She, then again gaslit me to believe that the she was going to make an appointment. I was on the phone for 25 minutes and when I said I would be looking for another doctor she then hurriedly mentioned that she was “already going to set [my] appointment up.” This was the first time I was offered an appointment since 08/22/24 in attempts to keep me on the line and not looking elsewhere for treatment.
Overall super unprofessional, extremely manipulative front desk, poor customer service, lack of empathy for serious situations and the gaslighting was just another level! 1 star...
Read moreI was found to be having a major seizure when my brother took me to the emergency room in Crosby Texas Within 10 minutes of arriving they had already conducted a CAT scan and found that I had a large brain tumor they immediately contacted Memorial Hermann at my request I was transferred there via ambulance. I was told by my family that the surgery would be after the first of the year and then was told I would need to follow up with a different neurologist however in the interim I had a really bad seizure and thought my eyeball was going to pop out of my right socket my son took me back to the emergency room and after speaking with the doctors I was given emergency surgery overall my experience was great after the surgery I still have what I call microburst headaches where they where my head will hurt a little bit but I think that that was because I got real sick with the chest cold and had to go to the emergency room to get help the only two things that I may have been a little unhappy with was when the nurse gave me a Tramadol pain pill the second day after surgery and when I found out I told him absolutely not all I needed was a extra strength Tylenol 500 mg he explained I could only have six of those a day and I explained I only needed two he must have spoken to the doctor because when I had pain the next time I was given one extra strength Tylenol the second thing I was unhappy with was when they woke me up at 4:00 in the morning to move me from one recovery room to another recovery room further down the hallway and I was sleeping good did not realize that the doctor was going to release me to go home at 7:00 that morning otherwise...
