Memorial Eye Center - Rice Village — Local services in Houston

I had mixed feelings about my experience at Memorial Eye Center in Rice Village.

On the positive side, the optometrist was excellent—friendly, professional, and the first to suggest progressive lenses, which turned out to be great advice. The staff also helped me with frame selection, explained the differences in quality, and I appreciated that when I declined extra tests not covered by my insurance, there was no pressure. The exam itself was very good.

However, about five days before my glasses were due, I called to check on the status. The person who answered the phone was rude, accused me of something untrue, and hung up on me. When I later brought this up during my pickup visit, my concern was ignored, and the survey I was told I’d receive to give feedback never arrived.

Overall, most of the staff and the optometrist were great, but one very negative interaction left a sour impression. It’s frustrating when a single rude encounter overshadows what could have been a completely...

I had a great experience with Dr. Flanders. This was my first visit to this clinic, and he took time to listen to my prior issues with wearing contacts, and he diagnosed me with astigmatism that other optometrists had not diagnosed. He helped me find contacts that would help with that issue, and he even tried a few different prescriptions to make sure they were the perfect fit. For the first time, I can see perfectly and am comfortable wearing contacts.

When it was time to pick out glasses, one of the ladies in the office nicely offered to help me choose, and she gave feedback as I tried on at least 20 pairs. She also gave me options for frames that were within my insurance coverage and price range.

I have been a customer of Today's Vision for almost twenty years and I would not think of going to another optical store! Dr. Flanders, is an excellent eye doctor and I would never want to trust my eyes to another doctor! When I step inside the store I immediately see the kind and cheerful faces I have seen for close to twenty years, sitting at the same desk...Richard and Cheryl, and everytime, it's like seeing old friends once again!
