We went in today at 5:20 pm. I walked in politely and waited my turn just to have Christina in the emergency center greet me rudely and tell me I needed to sit down. I mentioned I only had a quick question. She told me I still needed to sit down. So I did as I was told. She called me back up when she was ready and I explained to her I have my husband in the car who is experiencing high fever (105.8) due to testing positive for covid and I wanted to know if they have any special protocols before I get him out of the car. She told me no and that I couldnât wait in the lobby and I said âthatâs fine. I donât care about me. Iâm just here to ask if thereâs any special protocol and get him seen.â 2 hours pass and Iâm texting my husband just to find out they have only taken vitals and set him back down in the lobby with other patients that were coming in⌠(why was I not allowed to be with him if I live in the same household? It doesnât make sense that others were walking in with their spouse and children and allowed to sit with them. Why was it ok to expose others? ) my husband asked to sit outside where I spoke to him and asked what all they have done and he said only vitals and he stepped outside because he was cold and when he asked for a blanket was told they donât have blankets. He told me he didnât feel comfortable here and wanted to go elsewhere. I agreed with him and he asked if I could walk with him because he felt weak and was scared to fall. We proceeded to go inside and as I walk in, I wasnât even able to let a word out to let them know we were going somewhere else⌠Christina took it upon herself to again be rude and raise her voice unnecessarily at me stating âYOU CANâT BE IN HERE.â Her mannerisms and the way she decided to speak to me is very unprofessional. People come here seeking help because they donât feel well. I would understand if I was being rude or not compliant, but I never was. I wasnât going to let my husband go in there alone when he is telling me he feels weak and wanted me to let them know we were going elsewhere. Just because someone in the front desk felt entitled does not mean that patients should be neglected (yes itâs neglect that there is no special protocol being followed. Other then spouses are apparently not allowed to wait with covid patients. But itâs ok for other patients to be mixed in?) if she was having a bad day. There was no reason for her to take it out on me. I wasted a trip, time and didnât even get my husband the help he...
Read moreMy visit to Memorial Hermann Convenient Care Center followed an unfortunate incident at the gym, resulting in a severe finger injury and excruciating pain. Regrettably, my encounter with Nurse Marco left me deeply distressed and traumatized.
Description of Care Received: Upon arrival, Nurse Marco attended to me. However, his approach and conduct throughout the ordeal were profoundly disappointing and concerning.
Professionalism and Compassion: Nurse Marco exhibited a complete absence of sympathy and compassion during my time at the care center. His demeanor was callous, and he appeared indifferent to my agony and vulnerability.
Communication Skills: Throughout our interaction, Nurse Marco's communication skills were shockingly inadequate. When I expressed my inability to answer further questions due to the overwhelming pain, his response, "Well, I donât want to be at work, but Iâm here," seemed to imply that my pain was inconsequential and unworthy of consideration.
Bedside Manner: Nurse Marco's bedside manner was appalling. Rather than offering support or reassurance, he laughed off my distress and made insensitive remarks, creating an environment of hostility and disdain.
Specific Comments Made by Nurse Marco: During our exchange, I recall Nurse Marco making dismissive and offensive comments. When I inquired about receiving additional treatment recommended by the doctor, his response was delivered with palpable attitude: "No." Furthermore, when I attempted to explain the context of my question, he rudely interrupted, raised his voice, and eventually screamed at me in front of other staff and my sister. His behavior was not only unprofessional but also deeply distressing and intimidating.
Overall Impression: my distressing encounter with Nurse Marco at Memorial Hermann Convenient Care Center was compounded by the unsettling possibility of racial bias influencing his behavior. His actions were not only unprofessional and disrespectful but also deeply traumatic, leaving lasting emotional scars that overshadowed the physical injury I sought treatment for.
Gratitude: I sincerely hope that this feedback prompts a thorough review of the care provided at the center and leads to necessary improvements in staff training and patient interaction. Every patient deserves to be treated with dignity, respect, and empathy, regardless of the...
Read moreI had a terrible experience at this place with my 3yo son, this morning.
We arrived here after desperately leaving ER at Memorial Hermann City Mall, due to my son constantly vomiting and dehydrating since 3am.
After a long wait at the ER, I decided to leave and let reception know I was withdrawing him to go somewhere else (never saw the doctor), so the reception guy said no problem and that he will let the nurses know. However, they did not took him out of their system, so when I ended up here at the Convenient Care, the receptionist was not able to put our information in the system due to their ER location unable to ârelease himâ. I panicked as my son was getting weaker, due to dehydration, thirsty and vomiting the water immediately after drinking it. I started to cry and insisted she should to do something, since it should not be our problem/fault their systemâs issues with starting the check-in process of a patient, while she was just repeating to me and even the security officer came to repeat it, as if I did not understand, that she called the ER location and they said âthey will release his information when they canâ, with an attitude that was like I was talking to a wall and they did not seem to care at all, she just kept repeating the same thing, that she couldnât start putting him in their system as their other location has not released him and we had to wait with no estimate wait time.
I left after waiting a while (almost an hour just to ckeck-in) and when I told her we were leaving, she told me that the system still doesnât let her to checking us in as my son has not been âreleasedâ yet. The entire situation was like a closed game, a joke and a nightmare.
I had to go to another urgent care, hoping I never have to encounter a Memorial Hermann hospital ever again. Their inefficiency and lack of empathy should be charged/reported as patient abuse...
