Over all Scissors and Scotch is a great barbershop and the staff there are really cool people. I highly recommend Amanda to cut your hair. She has great attention to detail and is easy to talk to. I’ve changed my hair style 3 times and each time she talk through it with me and understand what I’m looking for. If you get a haircut on a regular basis I recommend getting the membership. It’s totally worth it. You get a complimentary cocktail/ beer with each full service hair cut and the bartenders there always make great cocktails. You also get a discount on product and
The only complaint I have is on the business side of things. I saw Amanda for almost a year with a membership. The shop has this ranking system to promote a stylist/ barber to the next level aka an “elite” stylist/barber. This is an added $7 cost to the customer on top of the monthly membership fee + tax and then the tip. I would understand if this additional cost was added to non-members as an additional incentive to get the membership. These extra elite cost gets me the exact same haircut, same service, no additional time. I’m certain that only a small % of $7 is given to the barber. So it seems like the title change to elite barber/ stylist benefits the business the most and not the people actually doing the work or the customers.
If I’m committed to the barbershop with a membership I shouldn’t be charged more because a stylist/ barber gets a title change. The barbershop is already going to get my money every month like clock work. And if I am being charged more I should see additional services added or increase the time that the barber is expected to complete the haircut. At the very least, give the barber/ stylist $5 out of those $7 since they are the ones building the relationship, doing the work, and keeping the business alive. That would make me feel better about paying more for a stylist and getting no additional benefits. Take care of your stylists/ barbers because they are a big reason why people continue to come back and spend money with y’all. Also does the business owner consider that people will take the additional $7 charge out of the barber/stylist tip? I know at most shops the barber/stylist keep 100% of the tip. This means there are instances where money is being diverted from the employee and to the employer. Seems a bit unethical to shrug that off and see it as an issue the business can’t help.
For these reasons I canceled my membership and will be going to a different barbershop. I’d love to come back but would love to see the stylist/ barber title promotion system reworked so it benefits everyone but mostly the barbers/ stylists who keep the...
Read moreI recently visited Scissors & Scotch for the first time, and I had the absolute pleasure of being served by Atlanta Ellington. From the moment I walked in, she made the entire experience seamless, welcoming, and genuinely enjoyable.
Atlanta doesn’t just give haircuts—she delivers an exceptional customer experience from start to finish. She greeted me with a warm smile and immediately made me feel at ease. Before even touching a pair of clippers, she took the time to walk me through my options, asking the right questions to help me identify exactly what I wanted. Her professionalism, attention to detail, and dedication to customer satisfaction were unmatched.
Throughout the haircut, she ensured my comfort, checked in frequently to make sure I was happy with the progress, and made adjustments based on my feedback. It was clear that she wasn’t just focused on cutting hair but on creating an experience that left me feeling confident and valued as a customer.
To top it all off, Atlanta wrapped up the service by confirming my next appointment, making sure I left feeling completely taken care of. She went above and beyond at every step, turning what could have been a routine haircut into a first-class grooming experience.
If you’re looking for someone who truly cares about the craft and puts customer experience first, Atlanta Ellington is the one to book with. I can’t...
Read moreI love the concept and convenience of this place. The free drink after is always appreciated. The free shampoo and hot towel is a beloved service.
HOWEVER, this place is not meant for black folk. No disrespect intended, they just don’t cut Afro hair decently, consistently.
I visited them twice. Again, wonderful friendly service and a clean and welcoming environment. My first cut ranked a 65/100 and my second 30/100. Both ladies were very sweet and I loved their conversation. Unfortunately, a barbers main job is to cut hair. I asked the clerk if the barber I was assigned to knew how to cut Afro hair, and she answered, yes of course, then proceeded to ruin my weekend.
I’m writing this review mostly for all the other black men running low in time and can’t make it to your main barber… they ain’t it.
I LOVED these women as people, and they seemed to be killing on the straight hair texture people. But I knew I was in trouble when she pulled out scissors on my when I asked her to even me out.
My fade transition was not even on the sides and MIA on the back. I was gonna ask her to fix it, but figured I’d just take the L and grow it back out.
Great for the majority population, not for...
