Great place to buy junk... And I mean that in the best way possible! If you're an electronics enthusiast like me and want B stock like Mad Katz and old worn controllers to tinker with, this is a great place to get a good deal. They might have to dig them out in the back, but they're willing to look for you. It's great to experiment with the bargain stuff knowing that if you botch it up, you didn't waste a lot of money. They are willing to help and even give tips if you need them. I really like the place and the guy I dealt with.
As far as the prices go, they can be high, but the retro gaming market is sizzling hot right now, so the price matches the demand I believe. I was able to get a good deal on Crazy Taxi for Dreamcast for pretty cheap and I got to walk out with it instead of waiting a week for it to come from eBay. Plus they test the game so you know it works. It's also great knowing that I have a place to get hard to find things like controller extension cables and memory cards for old consoles.
I will be back, I'm sure of that! Especially if I need more parts for...
Read moreAnother gem in Houston Heights. This fantastic little store has a great selection of games, and pretty reasonable prices. If you look on the interweb, you may be able to find some things a little bit cheaper, but what you won't find is a store like this, ANYWHERE else. It's a pleasure to shop here. Besides the vast selection of consoles and games from all generations, the store features arcade games set to free play, great video game artwork on the walls, interesting video game paraphernalia for sale, and all the connections and accessories you could possibly ask for.
Dave is a fantastic owner / proprietor. Friendly and knowledgeable, he goes out of his way to be helpful. He's pretty fair when it comes to trade-in's too. Dave will also do repairs on your old systems and cartridges. He got my NES working again for like $10 or $15 bucks and he said that he can even replace the battery back ups on older NES cartridges.
If you have any interest in classic video games or just want to recapture some nostalgia, then I highly recommend you check...
Read moreI wished my experience was better but it wasn't. I never had this happen to me before where I'm waiting over an hour to be helped for games where they didn't have manuals and the cases were reprinted. I wanted to give benefit of the doubt because it was just 1 person working, that person being the owner but . But i can only suspend my disbelief but so much and so far when I sat and watch literally everyone else after me be greeted when they walked in and having watch the owner go from behind the counter to offer help. But never to me and he walked past me twice. Having someone call the store in order to let the owner know I need help is beyond embarrassing. I wouldn't be so mad if the prices were fair but they are not. I ended up walking away with 1 game that was priced around how much I could find it online CIB. I don't mind paying overhead prices if the customer service made me feel wanted and it didn't. I never felt so bad walking out of a...
