Immediately when i walked in. Staring. One man stared at me for so long I facially responded. Realized it was that type of place. So naturally, my sit-in began! Food was absolutely delicious. Ordered bean, egg, and cheese tacos with onion and bell pepper added. It wasn't until I looked ar my receipt I saw $2 extra for bell pepper, $1 for onion, and $2 for the beans, bringing the total to just over $12 for tacos costing around $3.50 a piece. In fact, the reason I ordered them was because it was under $10. I understand you are a business, but a WHOLE bell pepper can be purchased at the store for a dollar. So why the elitist robbery? It wasn't until I was checking out, noticing how friendly the attendant was with previous customers. When they got to me, complete silence. It was almost like she didn't like me, even having never met before. Things like this haven't happen often since I moved to Houston. Maybe Austin. But I certainly expect better community and camaraderie from our local businesses in Hou. I feel disgusted for having visited, and continuously sorrowful for others, for simply having to endure eating a meal where they are less than welcomed.

My hashbrowns were very cold and soggy. My server was wonderful and pleasant (outside of not mentioning the...

Yale Street grill, another disappointing place this is my first time going there. Everybody keep telling me how good the Yale Street grill is! So I'm going to have to tell him bad experience for me. I went in there sat at the counter no acknowledgment of high it took them 15 minutes to come give me a menu so when I got the menu and they brought my water I drink some of the water, and looked at the menu. So how can a restaurant have seasonal steaks, steaks are not seasonal if the t-bone is in season then you can get it T-Bones I served all year round and I forgot the other steak I think it was a sirloin or whatever or ribeye that is seasonal what kind of place does that a restaurant this is another place where everybody goes I was going there because somebody said they serve fresh turkey burgers and that's what I wanted a turkey burger. Then I look down on the menu I like soup all year round I don't know about most people but I like super all year round. That's another thing that's seasonal! So I don't know what's in people that like to go to subpar restaurants but I don't. I'm just giving advice I like good food and quality food if I'm going to...

Majorly disappointing experience. I'm new to Houston and have been trying to find a great diner type restaurant. Houston seems to be seriously lacking in that department because every place we went to has been horrible. Not because the service was bad, but because the food literally tasted like they just warmed it straight from the freezer.

Never even got to try the food at this place. As soon as we walked in there was no one to greet us. All the workers looked up at us, so they knew we were there, but no welcome, NOTHING. There was a sign saying to please seat yourself, which we tried to but the only empty booth we could find was still dirty. As we stood there like a group of buffoons we still never got a greeting from anyone. And then a couple of ladies walked in after us and seated themselves at the dirty booth, okay...

Finally we did notice an empty, clean table in the very back corner next to some stacked up boxes, so seated ourselves there. After waiting about 10 minutes for any sort of acknowledgement from the staff we decided to leave. How this place manages to stay in business...

12:38pm, Thursday: I ordered a chocolate shake, double cheeseburger, onion rings. Husband ordered an egg salad, fries. YSG makes a damn good milkshake but it’s a small amount for the $3.95. Nevertheless, I’m not complaining! It hit the spot. We wanted to sit at a booth but they were all dirty at the time. Busboy could’ve been quicker with clearing off the tables. I was not impressed with the onion rings. As you can see in the pic, I got 5 of them but the onions were so small that it was more breading than onion. There were more onions on my burger than in the onion rings. I saw “char-grilled” on the menu but I don’t taste any charcoal at all. It’s just grilled. It’s not a bad hamburger at all though. For the $10.95 I paid for the burger and onion rings, I expected a little more onion rings (or at least more onion IN the onion rings). Still, this place has been here since 1923 or so and it’s a nice place to eat lunch! The nitpicky stuff makes me give it a three-star rating but I’m sure we will be back again! My husband absolutely loved his egg salad- said it was the best he has had in a long time.

This place pops up on many Houston sandwich or burger list. Not sure why. Looked at the menu online showed they have fish sandwiches. Coworker observes lent so we went. They do not have them anymore and never updated the menu. I ordered a burger he ordered the tuna fish. First off the take forever. An hour to get our order out. They were not busy either. The burger was okay, not bad. Nothing special. Tasted like a Sonic burger. Only five frozen onion rings come with the order. Coworker’s tuna smelled funny. He ate it. Didnt get sick, but definitely smelled funny. The iced tea was spoiled

Great place to eat. It’s a vintage place like a trip back in time. This has been a restaurant sine 1923. Part of the building was a pharmacy and then a post office over time and now is an antique store. Great breakfast menu cooked fresh for you. A real diner experience from history w homemade pies and cakes as desert plus ice cream floats. Very reasonable prices and good service. We had big breaks plates and drinks. Our total bill was $22. Minor ding was the biscuits appear to have been frozen over handmade. Lots of locals eat here. A great place to go. Recommended.
