I went to Batteries Plus with a phone that had water damage to the screen. (There was a black hole on the display that I had to maneuver around.) The phone was otherwise completely functional. I repeatedly told them it was water damage inside the screen itself (they didn't quite believe me at first). It was indeed water damage inside the screen, they went to install the new screen, and it all seemed fine until they attempted to put it back together. The new screen went completely black. They thought it was the battery, but the battery was fully functional.
THEN they tell me that this sort of thing often happens with water damaged phones and they aren't equipped to work on them. The guy said he's only SUCCESSFULLY REPAIRED ONE PHONE SCREEN WITH WATER DAMAGE, and all other fixes weren't successful. Didn't bother sharing this with me BEFORE taking apart my functional phone.
They put my now useless phone back together - didn't seal it properly at all - it's half falling apart. I have a completely black screen. They told me I should try going to go down the street to their competitors because they were equipped to handle water damage. They wasted an hour and a half of my time doing something they knew they probably shouldn't do in the first place.
The guy did call his manager who told him to just give me my phone back. ...

I brought back a Duracell lawn & garden battery that was purchased just 3 months prior and had already failed. The battery was tested by the assitant manager and registered an absolute zero. Rather than exchange the battery under warranty, the store decided to blame me- the customer-for an improper application or abuse. This battery was used 2x in a Zodiak tender to start a 20hp merc 4-stroke with absolutely no other power draw. A perfect application for the product. This was clearly a defective battery. However this store chose to blame their customer. They chose not honor a warranty that should clearly be in effect. Buyer beware--this location will NOT do the right thing and honor defective products and fight those battles with their suppliers. They would rather be lazy and ineffective as a retailer and blame their customer. In the COVID-age of retailing, this is exactly the type of retailer that does not deserve the customer that goes out of their way for an in-store visit. Read moreThe products are good. The service was lacking. I was told by the store manager that the batteries would be at the store in Hudson, WI by 3:00pm. . 8/13/25. I called to confirm. Yes, they were in and waiting. I arrived at stated my time, at 4:00PM. I parked and went to the store (hrs 8am - 7pm) the door was locked store closed. I called the store 3 times and received a V-msg. I left a request for a call back. Nada! After waiting in my car for 45 min. I checked the door again and it was open and a young clerk was now in the store. I asked the clerk if he'd receive my call he confirmed he had just heard the messages. But hadn't back. Of the 4 deep cycle batteries purchased, 3 of the 4 had the improper cell caps per what we had described and purchased. The clerk was confused with what to do. I did see there were other batteries with the proper caps and suggested to exchange them. He agreed, but, I had to show him how.
