I worked for Winn Dixie, for 18yrs. Always loved my WD. I worked as cashier, Front office, sometimes Floral department, produce, Deli Asst.Manager, most important Seafood Management, for 8yrs or more. Always #2 in district out of 23 stores. Made number 1 st 2007 at DUNEDIN STORE first 3 days I was transferred to Dunedin store. Dunedin store was smallest store in the district. I made it work. There sales only were only $350 to $425 that was the best wk. When I took over, had to clean house, put stuff on sale. Sample everything. Had only 3 day to push it out. However, there is a high school aged, curly haired cashier who I believe is scamming people on items. 2 weeks ago, bought a deodorant, got home and nowhere to be found -- it's on the digital receipt. This week I checked out with the same cashier and caught him trying to sneak some candy item on my order. I stopped him and told him it wasn't mine. I believe it is intentional because I still had half the order on the belt and I don't eat candy, so I don't know where this item came from. Could have fallen off the rack I guess but TBH in the several decades I've been grocery shopping I've never had this happen.
Rest assured, I'll be back next week - same bat time, same bat channel, and if I find any more funny business I'll be getting...
Read moreI haven't been in a Winn-Dixie in YEARS, but found myself visiting this one TWICE recently. Nearly everything I was looking for had a brand on sale or at truly reasonable prices. The store was also very clean (unlike the one near my home, which I rarely frequent). Their wine selection was small, but offered enough of a variety for me, with many bottle offered at sale prices &/or with Fuel Perks bonuses. While there, and starving, we picked up a pre-made Italian sub from the deli to split. Maybe I was starving from skipping breakfast, but that was a fine mid-day snack... very fresh, most notably in that the bread was not soggy. Check-out was swift, and on our second visit, our young cashier was exceptionally friendly. As this grocery store is closer to my dad's lake house than Publix, I'm sure we will return to this Winn Dixie the next time we are...
