Cooter Pond Park is definitely one of the best things that happened to that area. It's Fall, 🍁 I knew that everything would be changing colors, so I decided to drive over there to capture it. It is breathtaking at any time of year. Especially now, after the drought that we've been having here, a lot of the trees have dried out, and their leaves have changed color . The weather was perfect, with the slight breeze blowing on the pond . This park is handicap friendly. There are a couple of different benches scattered throughout the boardwalk as well as covered gazebos. It's a perfect view from every angle of the park. You can also walk along the water in a wooded area and back out to a trail onto the other side of the pond. Quite a few Gators were present. So you need to be looking on both sides when walking in the wooded area . Don't forget that gators come out of the water. On the other side of the pond, there's a beautiful paved walkway that is shaded. With benches throughout the park with views of the entire ponds. It is the perfect place to take a break away from the everyday hustle and bustle. One day, I'll get there for Sunrise it must be incredible over the pond....
Read moreCooter Pond Park is absolutely one of the best things about Inverness and this part of Florida without a doubt! After recently re-discovering how much fun it is to get out on a bicycle again after perhaps 30 years or so (!) and with all of the wonderful, naturally occurring nature at our very doorstep to explore, getting out on the Withlacoochee State Trail and visiting places like Cooter Pond Park, Liberty Park, Wallace Brooks Park and Fort Cooper State Park in Inverness have actually put a smile on my face more days than not in the past several weeks.
Cooter Pond Park is a truly wonderful place to visit and great for the whole family, for going solo to explore as I do, or to go every single day for the rest of your life, strolling hand in hand with your favorite person in the whole wide world along the boardwalk. whatever your situation is it's a great place. It is very peaceful and never too crowded. As you walk the boardwalk and look out onto Cooter Pond you will be treated to so many different birds, alligators (as I may have mentioned lol!), and don't forget about the Cooter turtles which you'll find plentifully in the late...
Read moreWhat a wonderful place to go! I would highly recommend Cooter Pond Park! It's a very peaceful place consisting of a boardwalk and if you go around sunset every evening you're pretty much guaranteed to see up to five or six alligators, numerous turtles (they are the Pond's namesake, after all!), ducks (mostly Moorhens, which you can recognize by their bright red head and face) and many kinds of birds, including the Anhinga (you will mostly find them standing on the lower wooden boards/beams of the boardwalk with their wings outstretched so that they can dry), and sometimes Great Blue Herons, Great Egrets, and even a limpkin! You're even allowed to fish right off the boardwalk so be sure to bring your fishing pole if you're so inclined -I've seen a couple people catch big mouth bass in the pond. Great to bring the family or solo or anything - just...
