Wallace Brooks Park in Inverness has recently undergone a complete renovation. It was a delightful park before, but now it has even more to offer. Not only is the new design aesthetically pleasing, but it has a lot more to offer with the inclusion of three new boat ramps, plenty of places to fish, and a newly designed exercise area. Inverness recently spent $10 million dollars on their downtown park system which is a huge improvement on what was there before. Wallace Brooks is one piece of the system and includes shuffleboard, fishing piers and a newly redesigned exercise area. Read moreThis is a city park nestled right behind the historic (and interesting) courthouse museum. It is also along the Withlacoochee biking trail. The park has male and female restrooms that are handicap accessible. The park also features shuffleboard courts, and a peanut-shaped walking trail, surrounding open grass and a small children's playground. A large lake is viewable from two sides of the park, and there also is a walkout dock in the shape of a large "T" that you can view lake wildlife or fish off of. Picnic tables and benches abound. There is also a boardwalk that leads to another park (Liberty) that is surrounded by greenery and partially goes over the shallows of the lake. You can also fish from there. Many places along the boardwalk have benches for a quick sit or...

This turned out to be the perfect spot. There are a number of picnic tables around the park — most of them shaded by big, beautiful trees...and with a front row view of the lake. There is also a very nice boardwalk that lines the water, as well as a large dock that just out into the lake. I ended up staying through sunset, which was a great way to end an otherwise hectic workday. Also, at the time I was there, the level of crowd was just right — not at all too busy to be annoying and not too empty to be eerie. 2 small-ish parking lots adjacent the park - parking was...
