Beware, look for another campground!!!!! If we could give this place 0 stars we would! In our 30+ years of Rving this place provided the most horrible customer service (Donna). Expensive, unlevel, narrow, short pull-thru campsites. Wfi and cable that doesn't work all for a mere NONrefundable prepaid $100+ per night!
I know this is long... but worth reading before you pay the non refundable deposits!
We stayed at the Virginian RV two years ago. Yes it was a bit expensive, but the care and service was tremendous! It was our first time visiting Jackson & Yellowstone the office person had such good suggestions on places to eat, where to see animals, suggested tours etc. that we decided to come back again.
Well this year was very different, we had a horrible campsite. We requested a pull through site for our 32' Rv & Jeep. When we arrived it was not what we were given, thankfully the kind gentleman that greeted us(the only kind person there) changed our site immediately. But the next site was so unlevel we had to move the RV several times to get it exactly 'next' to the hookups creating another problem with our slides and opening of our compartments. We went back to the office and asked if we could please have a different site that was more level and would accommodate our towed vehicle. A different gentleman in the office person said 'NOPE that's the only site we have available for you.' We pointed out there were several other sites available near us yet the gentleman said no those are pre-reserved. So after much repositioning of the RV into this short and narrow spot, the one side was still high so we added another step to get into our Rv. As you can see in the picture our 2 door small jeep wrangler could not fit behind our RV so we had to park it sideways in front / still partly in the roadway because we were not allowed to park it on the grass next to our RV. Ok all that being said, now to the absolutely most rude customer service I have ever encountered. The next morning we stopped at the office to let them know that our cable and wifi did not work. Donna said, "oh well mine works!" I was shocked at her comment and said we are in campsite.. and before I could finish she interrupted and said "Oh... I know exactly where you are, you are right across from Me (with her hands on her hips). I said oh, ours doesn't work, perhaps you are on a different wifi address. I also told her I contacted our Verizon carrier to figure out why my personal hotspot to watch our own streaming deviwas not working and Verizon tech suggested there might be something there at the campground interfering since our devices work fine as soon as we leave the campground. Donna said 'No way' and 'Do You (I) have pop up blockers turned off? because I t is definitely your (my) issue because my (her's) wifi works just fine!' I asked for her name, she said Donna, I said thank you Donna for not offering any assistance and walked away.
If we hadn't paid over $400 we would have left and camped at nearest Walmart parking lot or rest stop where we would have had better...
Read moreWhile administrative staff were, practically speaking, helpful in terms of rebooking before staying, their attitude was rather rude. When I asked what was easiest for them, I got answers like, "I don't care." In a rushed voice.
The sites are rather close together and tight. For the money it takes to stay here, it is just not worth it. Given the price, you'd think they'd be able to at least keep the hot water running in the showers, but no. The water heater is broken and no expected day of it being fixed given.
If you need to leave early, they will not refund the days remaining. This rule is not listed anywhere on their website.
The bartender girl at the on-site living room bar spends so much time on her phone that she does not notice people coming in, sitting at the bar and waiting to be greeted.
The closest park has many signs posted that dogs are not allowed, despite looking like it's completely unmaintained and just left to nature's will.
The corners are so tight in the campground that a 40-foot rv is barely able to make them. People have to move cones and things to be able to make the bends, so be sure you are very comfortable with your rig if it's a larger A class or similar.
The RV entrance is on a quite busy street, and the lines tend to back out into the street blocking regular traffic, so be sure to keep you calm hat on if you are checking in during the afternoon. Traffic noise is pretty much constant.
Sewer hoses are required, of course, with an elbow that seals the opening, as usual. Should you forget it, they sell one of site for around 100usd...
The toilet stalls are rather small and feel outdated. The information in their pamphlet says restrooms are open 24/7, but they do close them regularly for a few hours at a time mid day for cleaning, so make sure you can make do without the on site ones too.
The on-site burger place is hit and miss whether they will bring the food to you or not. Be prepared to go get it yourself even if they say they will bring it to you.
If you get a site on the western side you cannot have your vehicle parked by your RV as it is a fire lane and it must be parked on the street or a few minutes of a walk away. This information would be good to have on the map or website beforehand.
There are no nice walking streaks close by, so be aware that you'll have to take the car pretty much anywhere you want to go outside the campground.
All in all, this place is very overpriced given what they deliver. Will never return...
Read moreRight when you step out of your camper, you are right by your neighbors sewer hose, which is also right where you picnic table is. They have Aspen trees at most of the sites that constantly drip sap everywhere. Ours was right at our door and picnic table. We were on a slope, so every time you stepped out, it felt like you were going to keep going down. The pool is at the lodge, so it is already full by the time you get there. It's all gravel and dusty, there is nothing paved, and there is no grass except the "dog area" which is all of 4 foot wide, and that is really the only grass in the whole campground. There are NO amenities on the grounds. On a positive note, you can walk to a national forest from there, the library is right across the street, and there are plenty of green spaces in the area. You can also fairly easily walk into downtown Jackson, and the rodeo is only a couple of blocks away. It is only one way in and out, and the sign that tells you which part is not an entrance is too small, and you can't see it until you are already turned in. They do have staff that live on site that keep it clean. The washers are all cold water washes, and the dryers do not dry at all, they were just as soaking wet after an hour as they were when we stuck them in, and we didn't get our money back, plus you're not allowed to hang your clothes out to dry. The bathrooms had 5 stalls and 3 showers. The showers only have a curtain separating you and everyone else, so everytime someone walks by, the curtain blows open. You have an extremely small dry area to stick your clothes, and the shower is just big enough to stand in, you can't hardly move. The hot water is not constant either, it fluctuates. Also, they have wood platforms in the dry area, and they wobble when you step on them. And the hooks on the stalls are just barely hanging on, so you can't put anything on them. Also, it is very expensive to stay here, if you can, stay somewhere else. For the amount of money you pay, you don't get much back. The drive to Yellowstone is an hour to the south entrance, but 2 hours to get far enough in to actually see anything. Also there is no wifi, so they send you across the street for wifi, and there is little to no service in...
