Before I start with the review and give details, it is perhaps necessary to note that Jackson is an expensive town, and wherever you go, things are overpriced in terms of lodging. However, you can get a better experience somewhere else, paying the amount you will pay here (it was $500/night for us) which is quite high. The prices seem to fluctuate quite a bit from $200 a room to $500 for the same room, which is also a huge mark up. The day we arrived, the front desk was quite rude. We were in at 2 pm, two hours before the check in time (which is quite late for a hotel). They treated us as if we committed a crime by showing up early. We did not in any means demand an early check in, but a friendly welcome goes a long way. When we asked for recommendations as to where we can grab a bite until 4, they were unhelpful and again, unpleasant. When we finally got to the room we booked, which is a “courtyard king” we noticed that the bed is not a king, but a queen. This is one of the more expensive room types, and they lie in the name by saying it’s a king room. It’s not. We did not have hot water for 2 out of 3 days we were here, which is kind of unacceptable considering this is an outdoorsy town and a shower is a must. The courtyard was alright with some yard games and fire features, however the poolside canopies gave major fyre festival vibes. All the issues aside, the attitude from the front desk throughout was very unpleasant and unprofessional. We came as a big cohort for a wedding, and our room wasnt the only one having issues with the front desk. I should probably note that there was one man with glasses who was particularly rude. It seems like the hotel management reads the comments online which is great so perhaps this note is helpful. It is worth mentioning that this is a “motel” style building, it is loud and there is not much privacy. We had a hotel staff walk in unannounced on the day we moved in. You are better off going to a different hotel and making the best out of the money you pay for your vacation. Edit: If the hotel management took half the time addressing the issues raised by the reviews as they reply to them on google, they would be a much better establishment. Stop making excuses for your poor behavior, and listen to your customers.

We stayed at the Virginian Lodge last weekend when our band played music in the Saloon. We enjoyed the vintage vibe of the property, the friendly staff, and the close proximity to an ample selection of restaurants and retail stores, not to mention Grand Teton National Park. Our room had a microwave and mini-fridge with a good-sized freezer. The outdoor hot tub is open year-round, which we did intend to use, but never got around to. Problems with wi-fi that other posters have alluded to weren't an issue for us. The beds were comfortable and both hubby and I slept well, for most of the night anyway. The only drawback to this place -- if you can call it that -- is that it is one of the more reasonably priced hotels in the Jackson, WY, area, and as such, is a popular place for contract workers (including musicians at other bars, some of whom we met!) and other short-term residents. As a result, a lot of people on our side of the building were up and about at 7:00 AM, when we were trying to sleep in from a late night. Oh well, that had nothing to do with the hotel or the staff. There's a restaurant that serves breakfast and lunch next door to the lodge, which we enjoyed for breakfast one morning, and a liquor store on-site, which was an appreciated convenience. We hope to revisit the Virginian and look forward to our next stay!

Ok this is going to be long. The good: the room is fairly clean for a motel. That's it guys. Now for the bad... It's 2300 and I'm laying in my $550/night motel room. The air conditioner isn't working. The mini fridge was turned off. I've turned it on, we'll see in a bit if it cools. The mattress and pillows are alright, but they are certainly NOT $500/night quality. I've stayed in some of the nicest hotels in America. Mansion on turtle Creek, The Plaza, Inn of the Anasazi, The Dagney, etc. it's not the cost. It's what you get for the money. Even if everything worked in these rooms, it's the quality of at best $100/night motel. Repeat!!! This IS a MOTEL! Not that motels are bad. There are many on route 66 that I LOVE!!! I have NEVER stayed in a $500/night motel and I still haven't! Roll into town before you book here. I can't recommend Jackson As a place to stay, but I wouldn't stay here for $80/night. They list all sorts of amenities like fire pits, restaurants, pool, etc. IT'S FIRST AND FOREMOST A PLACE TO SLEEP. I'm not here to play, I'm here to sleep and be comfortable. Keep driving or stay somewhere else. I'm going to open the window, take a shower and get out of here at the break of dawn!

Our first stay at the Virginian Inn was in June 2019. At the end of that stay, we made a reservation with the front desk for a week in June 2020. We were quoted a price and given a confirmation number. Of course, travel during that time was curtailed. I called the hotel to get a reservation for June 2021. The same rate for the June 2020 stay was given, along with a confirmation for the new reservation.

Sometime during the interim, the property was sold. After speaking with someone from the new management company, I was assured of our reservation and that our original price would be honored. The 2021 reservation was scheduled to start on June 5, 2021. On May 24, 2021, I was notified that the hotel was being renovated and that the opening date had been pushed to June 11. That was the day our reservation was to end. Despite airplane reservations and car rentals being in place, we had to cancel this trip because the only lodging available started at $1000.00 per night.

The reason for our trips to Jackson was for a photography workshop that had been scheduled since June 2019. Another workshop was going to be in Jackson during August. 2021. The hotel “graciously” offered us a special of $500/night, with a free night to be given after a stay of 2 days. A $20/day “resort fee” would be waived. Since this new per night price was triple the amount of the original rate, we declined.

Needless to say, we were very disappointed to have to cancel our trip that we had been planned for 2 years. If I ever plan another trip to Jackson, I certainly will not stay at the Virginian Inn/Lodge. Had they been honest with us about the renovations and given us enough lead time to find alternate lodging, I would have been more...
