JUST DONT! Either the place is under new management or they are going under. I’m not sure which one, but they are cutting every corner they can think of. Up to and including giving customers rancid, old, stale, or mystery food that can make people sick.
I have frequently gone to this restaurant for YEARS. The service from the head waiter (an older Asian gent) was always pretty tense and rude until the end or middle of you service ( depending if he felt like rushing you out today). That’s when suddenly he’s all smiles and jokes for a tip he WILL try to softly guilt and bully you into. Despite this the food overall was great with large decently priced plates, but I really stayed for the Buns (Baked Pork and pineapple). It’s been about 6 months since I’d been there, so I was excited to go back to get all our favorite foods again.
The moment we go is it is an absolute ghost town. We go in, look around, and see no one. We just seat ourselves, and about 5 minutes later the head waiter comes over sets menus down and we place drink orders and look over the food. We order drinks, baked pork buns, pineapple buns, cashew chicken, house fried rice, and sticky pork rice in lotus leaf. The ALL Pork sticky rice had weird random bits a chuck of chicken and a chip of sausage. I was told they do it like this now. The rice had ZERO flavor and the cashew chicken was a huge plate of veg drowning in rancid brown/grey sauce with dry chicken and mushrooms shreds sprinkled in. The only good park were the pork and pineapple buns and half of those were burnt. We didn’t touch the overcook rancid chicken or that lotus leaf stuffed with random muck and went so far as to try to return it multiple times. When it came time to leave hungry and unsatisfied I refused to pay for the cashew chicken and lotus leaf. I totaled everything we kept in front of the manager he printed me a new receipt and accepted. I paid $50 for everything else ( 3 drinks, 2 pork bun, 1 pineapple bun, and House fried rice) with exact change. The manager accepted payment, put it in the till, GAVE ME A RECEIPT but then tried to keep us from leaving. He wants us to pay for the other stuff too still. When I refuse he decides to curse us out instead and...
Read moreI don't remember ever giving someplace 2 stars before but sadly this one earned it. It started right after I first opened the door to walk in. My wife noticed a smoothie shop next door and wanted to get one first. The man greeting looked at me and I said "oh we will be right back" I guess I did not shut the door fast enough and get out. He motioned me to shut the door. Ok... after we came back and got seated his attitude did not change much, very cold and short not at all friendly. During our meal we also heard and witnessed this man yell at another staff (this one very nice but obviously not happy) telling him not to leave some box somewhere but the kitchen staff had done it not him. Very upsetting to witness and the second man even had to say "calm down" to get him to stop. Ok, no biggie came to eat not chat... The food is truly getting the 2 stars not him. He would get one. The food was nothing to talk about. My wife got a duck casserole and the meat was 90% bones and I tried a piece but it was so tough I just left it. Not good and not worth the $16 at all. I ordered a few dim sum and was just not happy at all. I love dim sum and was looking forward to some steamed port buns but they where so small and only had about 1 tsp of filling. The short ribs where mostly grisl and I could not even eat them. Overall just not a good time. Then to end the meal the table next to us had a small child and the wait person was picking up the plates and pulled the plate away from the little boy not saying a word! That was not necessary he could have been nicer or at least tried to mady smile once! Oh one more thing. My wife brought in her smoothie from next door but also ordered a boba tea. The staff looked at her and said "you already have that, why?" Then when she asked if he had some thing with melon he said no. When she asked what he did have he turned away without a word and came back with a drink menu. Then just walked away again without a word. He came back and my wife ordered the drink "oh my melon"??? But he said no drinks with melon??? Very strange meal. Not worth the $ and attitude all night long. I felt sorry for the other staff having to work...
Read moreMy wife and I have dined here about three times. I guess third time was the “charm” and I say that sarcastically. I read the reviews about the dry humor of the waiter so I went with an open mind. Those reviews were accurate in that he has very dry and odd humor. It was not until the third visit that I had to renounce this establishment. Back to our second visit I asked for House Lo Mein without the pork and chicken with an addition of broccoli. The waiter instructed me to just ask for Shrimp Lo Mein with Broccoli instead. This is staple dish that is order in the northeast where I am from originally. On the third (and last) visit I proceeded to ask for Shrimp Lo Mein with Broccoli and the waiter become irate and begins to yell at me about how he cannot do that order. I was confused because it was a simple request, one that this guy told me to order the last time. Not sure why thought it was appropriate to yell at his customers but I grew extremely disturbed and confused. He must have forgot that I was a paying customer. My wife took our food to go instead and kept it moving. I don’t know whether or not he has a language barrier, but I know for sure he has a cultural barrier. My dude is not China, you are in America and you need to learn better customer service. The food is great however it is overshadowed by rudeness and poor customer service. I don’t wish ill things on anyone but I will no longer be a patron of this establishment. I would say this was an isolated incident but he has been consistently rude every visit. I’m good. You would think after the pandemic folks would have some sense as to how they treat their customers. Lastly, I’ve been to Hong Kong twice, not sure why they call...
