My wife and I have bought Modani furniture for 3 homes. We have always liked the design of their pieces and have continued to go back each time we buy a new home. We recently moved to Jax and wanted to buy 2 additional pieces for a sofa we were moving from our South Florida home (the great room in our Jax house is much larger). My wife specifically asked the rep, Mya, if the sofa has changed in design since we bought the sofa 2 years ago to ensure it matched. Mya assured her the 2 pieces would match our original purchase and that nothing had changed. The pieces were delivered to our Jax home and a month later we moved to Jax. We immediately realized once the pieces were together that the design had changed with new stitching....making the pieces not match. We contacted Modani expecting that they would take the pieces back without a problem since they had made a mistake. They admitted the design had changed and we were given the wrong information and said the return wouldn't be a problem. We then got a call from "Gary" the warehouse manager who said we would be charged a 35% 'restocking fee' PLUS $129 pickup fee because it was over 30 days from delivery. After numerous calls and assurances they 'would make this right', they just told us it's their "policy" and can't be changed. Shocked is the only word that describe how I felt to learn a company would make a mistake and force a loyal, returning customer to pay for their mistake. The only mistake we made was ordering the pieces too early. Needless to say, we will never be returning to Modani and would warn anyone to get what a representative tells you in writing and be VERY CAREFUL ordering from them....if not avoiding them altogether. They obviously don't value loyal customers. You can see the new stitching in the pictures....
Had to edit after Modani did call and gave us a refund which we appreciate. We would have appreciated it more had we not had to go through 2 weeks of wasted time. But we have decided that we would purchase furniture there again but will ensure to get any communication...
Read moreI went to Modani to buy 2 pieces to add to a sofa we purchased from them 2 years ago. We were moving to Jax and needed to extend the size of the main couch. I made sure to ask the representative, Mya, if the pieces would match exactly. She assured me the couch had not changed in design and the new pieces would match so I ordered them even though we were not living in Jax yet....along with other furniture. My husband and I have bought MANY pieces from Modani over the years. The pieces came without issue. But a month later when we moved to Jax and I put the original couch with the new pieces they did not match, there were changes made to the design....Mya told me incorrect information. Mistakes happen, I understand that. But when we tried to return the pieces we were told we would have to pay a 'restocking fee' of 35% of the purchase PLUS a pick up fee of $129. I was shocked Modani wouldn't over look their 'policy' after admitting they made a mistake. I spoke with store manager and the district manager who assured me they would 'make this right'. But after a week of back and forth the warehouse manager "Gary" denied all their requests to waive the fees and is forcing us to pay the fees. To say it's disappointing that a company we have been loyal to would value 'restocking fees' more than returning customers says all that needs to be said about them. I would suggest STAYING AWAY from Modani or at least know going in there they will not honor what their sales representative's tell you...only mistake I made was ordering the pieces too early. Will never return to Modani again and wouldn't recommend this...
Read moreReceived my modular white couch 2 weeks later than expected, no problem. Had someone recieve my couch as the company they used only delivered on Wednesday only..no problem. I got home and the couch was literally filthy as if it had been there for years. They were responsive as far as the stains/dirt and sent a tech out. The couch seemed to.clean up but it dried, the couch is discolored and still has plenty of stains. I contacted the company and they told me we could do a return minus 30% restocking fee ....over $1500...plus I had to figure out and pay to ship back to Miami!?!?! I have never in my life had such poor customer service and lack of pride in what products they turned out. I will absolutely never recommend this company or their products, very dissapointed and sorry I spent nearly $5k on what looks like a used, dirty couch. Due to their lack of Empathy and unwillingness to do the right thing, I'm having to buy an expensive couch cover for my.brand new couch.... I almost feel like I was on the show Punked or something comparable. If you're looking to purchase from this store, please know I rarely will write a negative post as I realize situations happen but I gave them a fair chance to correct it and am adamantly dissatisfied. Also, the technician told me due to the type of fabric, dark clothes would easily rub off and stain this material and I was told in the Jacksonville Modani store by the store manager that the sofa/fabric was stain resistant. This is FAR from true. Please do research prior to purchasing, I am hoping no one else has to have such...
