UPDATE - After writing this review, management has been much more responsive and action oriented to resolutions.e
DO NOT SIGN A LEASE HERE. If you run into any sort of issue, management and maintenance are the absolute worst. They will not respond, nor will they fix and handle any problems.
Before we moved in, we did an apartment inspection. The maintenance employee told us that he would fix any problems such as the broken mirror doors in the bathroom and replacing our leaky kitchen faucet before we officially move in the following week. When we moved in, nothing had been done. In addition, we found a huge pool of water next to our laundry closet because there was a leak from the water supply valves. Maintenance came up to check and saw the leak himself and told us he would send an email out to contractors that same day. We also reported it to maintenance immediately and every time someone came to check, we would get a different story. One moment, it was that the leak is caused by units above us (SUPER CONCERNING). The next moment, they would say it's because our supply valve needed to be switched out and tightened. They told us they needed to bring in contractors to fix the leak, which would need to be handled by management. When we contacted management, they told us that the leak needs to be fixed by maintenance. We went back to maintenance and they wouldn't respond to us for days or sometimes a week. We consistently would reach out to management who would also not be responding for days or sometimes a week. At one point, management responded and said that maintenance said we do not have a leak... We took pictures for proof of the leak and the water damage on our walls, wall baseboards, and wood floors and sent them to management after. There appears to be a huge lack of communication OR miscommunication within the departments at 50 Columbus. At one point, maintenance came in and was about to repaint our walls due to water damage. I stopped him and told him that we still have an active leak that needs to be fixed first. He was frustrated and said "well I can't even do anything then." His manager came in and told me that he already tried to fix the leak and knows exactly what the issue is. He was going to tighten the washer again. He said that he would check up on us throughout the day to see if there was still a leak. He came back once an hour later and the leak didn't show yet. A couple hours later, it started leaking and he did not return. This was on a Friday. On Monday, in addition to reaching back out to management, we went to tell the front desk that we needed maintenance to come fix the leak still. They said the maintenance manager was off on Monday and would be back on Tuesday. It is now Saturday and we still haven't heard from him. I also contacted management yesterday updating them of the situation and letting them know that if we continued to not receive a response, I would share reviews online. They did not respond and clearly do not care about providing tenants with the level of quality that they had portrayed on the tours and in the contracts. Overall, we've been dealing with this for over a month now and have been going in circles with no sign of resolution any time soon. This is extremely frustrating and disappointing.
In addition, they advertise all these amazing amenities during the tour. The reality is that they constantly have to close areas to fix "something" or they'll do reconstruction for months at a time.

Read moreCons: 50 Columbus claim they are a non-smoking building, irl it's not. Many people smoke weed in the building and have odor leaking everywhere through your dryer in the hallway, etc. Many people contacting the management office multiple times, the most they did is to send Email warning and didn't take any actions. It should an easy eviction to whoever violated the policy even though we explicitly pointed out the source apartment. But they CHOSE not to. Your in-unit dryer located in your bathroom is connected with your surrounding neighbors. It means if you do your laundry, you clothes will be covered with the odors from your neighbors' smoke, weed, farts, pees, or anything. Sometimes, you open the dryer, you know your neighbor is taking a dump. Also contacted the management office multiple times, nothing can be done. So you can only live with it. Got my luxury sports car stolen from the garage while paying $300/month. Trying to contact the management office and never heard from them to offer any apology. I guess they probably don't care about the security in the garage at all. The garage is a hub for all kinds of people and the security team just don't give a shit. When I still kept my vehicle there, my and others' cars were vandalized by random strangers; people do drugs there; police found murders' car abandoned in the garage for years without being noticed. Reporting many issues to the parking garage office, never heard anything. Before you decide to park you vehicle there, remember to max your comprehensive from your auto insurance. Thank me later.
Pros: The receptionists from the front desk are always nice. They would call you if you got a package and they will remember your names too. They are sweet persons. There is a really nice and well maintained garden. The only downside is that it's pretty much public to everybody around the area. So you can see all kinds of people lurking around. Really great location next to PATH. 3 min away from the station to save decent amount of commute if you care about it. The maintenance team is responsible: they are not the best to fix everything for you, but at least they do their job take care of tickets speedily. Overall, very nice people.
Recommendation: I really would like the management office to take security, safety as well as their building policy more seriously. I totally get it that it's not a charity org, kicking renters off because of smoking is not the profit-optimized solution for them. It's a nice building with nice people but if you can not cherry pick those bad apples from the barrel, it will eventually ruin your reputation. It's sad to see so many negative reviews resonating with what...
Read more8/12 update: management acted promptly and fixed the gate, the bench and added water hose! Bravo! Hopefully there will be additional lighting tonight and the dog park will finally be cleaned daily now.
As a long-term resident of 50 Columbus and a dog owner, I want to express my concerns about the state of the dog park here. While the management has invested heavily in events, pool parties, and even renovations like the basketball court and the perfectly fine amenities room, the dog park—a crucial facility for many residents—has been sorely neglected.
For months, the dog park has been falling into disrepair. The gate is missing a bar, which creates a serious risk for smaller dogs to escape. Additionally, the bench in the dog park has missing bars, leading to a dangerous gap where several dogs have injured themselves, losing nails and creating a hazardous environment. The lighting in the park has been out for months, making it impossible to see anything at night, which exacerbates the situation since people can’t spot where their dogs have pooped, further deteriorating the park’s condition.
Hygiene is another major issue, particularly during the hot summer months. The dog park often goes uncleaned for days, especially on weekends when there are pool parties and an influx of outsiders with their dogs. To make matters worse, the building has deliberately turned off the water hose, leaving dog owners with no way to clean up after their pets. This neglect has led to a persistent and disturbing odor, as well as an infestation of flies feeding on dog feces, making the park almost unusable and potentially harmful to our pets.
I urge the management to take the following actions immediately:
Clean the dog park daily (just like the grills). Keep the water hose on at all times (except for the winter) so people can clean up after their dogs. Fix the door, the bench, and add lighting in the dog park. Add security cameras to the dog park.
It’s clear that the neglect of the dog park is not in the best interest of the building or its residents. We’ve been forced to take our dogs elsewhere, which only damages the grass and other areas of the deck. As a community, we urge management to prioritize the upkeep and safety of the dog park. A well-maintained dog park is a mutual benefit for everyone in...
