I wanted to support a local, woman-owned business, but after my recent experience, I’m not sure I’d go back. I brought items to sell, as I’ve done before, but this time the owner dismissed my clothes as fast fashion, saying they don’t sell at her store—despite taking similar items in the past. She offered $20 for three items, which felt inconsistent given that I spotted fast fashion in her store, to which she claimed she only accepted because they were new with tags. I have often felt out of place or judged in similar spaces and there are no words for how different it feels to go to Cranky! My size is just there among all the others.
